hey pretty good remix, although i don't know how much you changed from the original, but if you want some constructive criticism: the only things i really didn't care for in it were the first 15 seconds of the intro: kinda reminded me of a cheesy 80's track with that drum sample in there.. and at about 2:02 to 2:17 in the song, the voice effect change (where it sounds like she's singing into a drain pipe) doesn't seem to mesh with the song at all.. and actually sounds rather abrasive. other than that the rest I like. :)

hehe, the intro was actually modelled after "Money For Nothin" cuz I kinda felt like I was cheating by doing a remix instead of making an original track... that and the intro from Money For Nothin is sweet as hell, LoL

It's the top thread in this listing. They usually have 2 or 3 competitions under way, seperate divisons for turntables and mp3. You hafta get your mix into the computer and FTP it to a site where the judges download it from.

K I did listen to the track, and in fact I'm giving it another 'spin' right now. Some comments thrown in here...

Whether BT's original track sucks or not is for everybody to decide. Honestly, you're throwing some things here that don't really deserve their place. About the bad taste and all. Why did you remix it if it was so bad? You saw some potential maybe, even if the whole of the track might not be, overall, your taste. To bring some personal bias, BT is worth more than 75% of the music industry today, in skill, talent, and contribution 24% of the rest probably should go to Richard D. James a.k.a. Aphex Twin]. Too many things he did are nowadays common in music [stutter bass, for one obvious example]. Trance has taken elements from his and PvD's greatest songs to make patterns for itself [one of the reasons BT 'left' trance]. I do not think he ever intended the track as trance, anyway.

I would not say you butchered the track, but it definitely lacks the feel and magic of the original. It's not your fault, the technical aspects are well done. I think of all the stuff BT's made [and I think I would know it all by heart] few remixes [but, I haven't heard all of those] have really managed to bring a good twist to the original.

I am more interested in what you used for sampling [unless you got the soundbanks from BT] because the vocals and everything are well cut out. So, if you could please PM me about that, I would be forever grateful. Thanks in advance!

the vocals and samples from the original were taken off of a site that was hosting a contest for remixing tracks off BT's latest album
when I decided to remix Communicate, I hadn't even heard the original, I think I worked on my remix for about a month or two before I even bothered to listen to the original at all
personally I think I improved it, obviously not everyone will agree with me on that point because some people are diehard BT fans... just because I wasn't that impressed with his new album doesn't mean other people were awed by it
it's kind of like Hybrid... their breaks amaze me but their house and trance (I feel) are kind of lacking that certain something... they sound good but it would be hard to make an interesting set out of them, u know?
