my dj pet peeve is humm playing at parties where there is crouds and you dont know many people, makes me feel __________ tall and causes my body to viberate in nerviousness.
THIS HAS GOTTA BE THE WORSE EXPERIENCE BY FAR last weekend at funk me supposibly Attila pulled the plug on the sound systems. Not once either, 5 times in a one hour set!!!!!! heard he was envious of Jer's successful turnout so he did everything in his possibilty to fuck da part up. How the hell are you suppose to get into a set with that shit happening. Skipping needles sucks too |

i was with him the whole night and if i wasnt he was chillin in the coner with his g/f!! he would not be jelous of the turnout- as his parties have been just the same!!!also i know he wouldnt do that because i knew the promoter (jeremy) and attila knew that so he wouldnt fuck around just for that reason!so jeremy, im telling you man--it wasnt him!!---attila has a good attitude twards the scene, and he would not do sumthing that stupid! |

As an All trance Genre dj myself, i have a lot of tracks that are quite long, so as to cut it short would make playing the track pointless. The track was produced to be played at whole as the second climax is usually bigger and more up lifting than the first. If your not fucked up and you dont know how to appreciate the music being played by the DJ ON DECK, step outside...
if i had a few more gig's im sure i'd have some pet peev's so as to everyone who has posted :) i agree...:) DJ Schmikel |

.o.
automix....wheres the hype in that. the dj works the music, has the song selection and key's in added potential to the song.
think about what u say first....u can automix anything out there, does that still bring ticket sales to raves if they new automix's were there. think about it. DJ Schmikel |

I hate when the sound set has the power cord (which the tables are plugged into) right at the feet of the DJ - thus causing me (usually tipsy) to accidently unplug the setup/ killing the sound with the slightest bump.
It amazes me how the sound tech would have such a accident waiting to happen & how often I see this. |

yo wiggles man you cant argue with trance djs dude, dont you know that they're not on the same level as guys like us, there music is so fuckin cool that they dont have to spoil it by being a good dj. just mix 1 song every 5 minutes, and the rest of the time pump fist. |

AKEEL - Oh My Shit.. I can't believe you just dropped that.. lol
A lot of things used to bother me, esp when other people skip the tables. Now I just S M ; ) E and Wink at the gurls that do it, and I point and yell "WHAT DID YOU DO?" to the guys who do it.. lol really.. I'm just out here to have fun. If you have arequest and I have it in my bag i'll play it, I mean it's in my bag for a reason. As for top 40 remixes, It happens a lot and just look at them and go, "you been here tonight for how long?" "Right, and you been hearing what I'm playing, you expect me to have?" lol well there is one thing that sorta gets to me... when you go to a party and they are to have a headliner there that produces music and you just so happen to hear other DJs that night playing records that this headliner has produced. It's one thing to ask the person first, but to drop it before they play... seen it happen too many times, and have had it happen to me! well gooday y'all cinto |

i think this is pretty debatable.... many can see this as an introduction for the headliner... but i guess from what i've seen in the past (back in melbourne when marcus intalex was playing, the guy before him played a MIST track... not a very well known one to add to that, so i guess the guy who was playing before him did it outta respect?) but i guess you can say it may also encourage the headliner to maybe play his/her own version (a VIP version!) of the track, or maybe play more exclusive material in general. but i see where this can go wrong though.... since its much better to hear the actual person who produced the track play it and have people all hyped and psyched to hear it rather then the opener. so i guess maybe if you played a not so well known "filler" track of the headliner.. maybe that wouldnt be so bad.... |

Heh, I saw one girl who was ssoooo messed up, dancing in front of the decks, actually stick her finger on the record that was playing out and stoppped the record. Dead silence all of a sudden. Yeouch!!
Pet peeves? Here's my Top 3: 3. Requests. Please don't ask. I'ma JACK FM on this place and play what I wanna hear. 2. Crowding behind the decks, especially when they stand between me and the monitor. Standing behind the decks does not make you cool. Stop it. And at #1: 1. Said behind-the-deck-standers and/or other DJ's twiddling the knobs on my mixer while I'm playing. Holy DAMN I really hate that!!!! |

When ppl go to shows, and they know that the DJ is a trance one, do they go to see the DJ pull out some special tricks?? I doubt it. These people go to the shows not to see the DJ do some crazy tricks, but just to hear some good trance tunes! At least that's the way I approach it. People like trance DJs for the music they play, not necessarily for the tricks they do or how fast they can mix from one track to another. As for the automix comment, why not just do that for any other genre besides trance, like dnb, or breaks? A DJ should be able to judge the crowd's reaction to certain tracks, then choose their next tracks accordingly. Can't play all anthems right? Can't play all super hard tracks right? Gotta use ur instincts appropriately. It's all about the proper track selection! The DJs take a backseat to the tracks they play, not the other way around. |
