Unless the DJ after me is playing a completely different BPM range then it always pisses me the fuck off when they don't mix out of my last song; unless it's a headliner or something anyways =P

It also pisses me off when people play peak-time tunes in a non-peak timeslot. Nothing like hearing your favourite 3 minute buildup with 3 people at the club =P

^^^Nothing like looking like a flailing moron 'cuz U love the tunes so much that U're pumping your fist in the air, much to the bewilderment of the only other two people in the club...lol...

the person who comes up & leans over the decks to make a request, and bumps the booth or table causing skippage

actually anyone who makes a request, fuck off, if i'm playin then i know it ain't a top 40 club

oh yeah, and when DJs pile 500 lbs of concrete mix into the DJ booth to provide balast, and then the bags get ripped and the powdered concrete ends up all over your shoes, fuck i hate it when that happens

I'm not a DJ either but...

What about when a dj asks you if they can "throw a track on" in the middle of your set - breaks up the flow of your set and you play hard trance and they play funky house!

God-complexes, or even just celebraty complexes. Mind, this has more to do with their 'fans' than themselves but there are those that lap up undue idolation like a kitten on cream.

Remember, you're just playing records down at the disco.

I'll play requests as long as I have the track and it will fit with my flow. All djs should learn this.

I meant another DJ that plays completely different music than you and is not booked - asks you if THEY can mix the record in. Not give it to you to do or ask if you have a track - the want to impose in the middle of your set and play thier music.

I'm curious - would most DJ's have a problem with this? or no?

Heheheheh,

Try doing live-pa. At the halloween party I played at, a cute rolling couple walked up on stage, leaned in, and asked:

"Hey - do you have that track that goes 'I Feel Love'..? You know that one?"

Me: "No, man - I'm playing my own music right now! Sorry!"

Him: "Oh, that's cool, that's cool, you mean you're actually *making* the music! Far out...

...so, uh, can you play it for us then?"

Me: "Huh?"

Him: "That track, the one that goes 'I Feel Love'..."

*sigh*. :)

I would imagine, flailing ravers in front of you that can't keep a rythem, that would majorly throw me off.
Overused needle.

Knowing the DJ before you played the one song you were dying to play.

And the thing I hate - is when the DJ's have breaks in the middle of a song, you just get into it and they STOP for a fucking 'uplifting moment' every 20-30 seconds. Scot Project did it at Insomnia, don't get me wrong - loved the music, but near the end of his set i was pissed off.

when other dj's tell me how to stucture my set.
when chicks before my set ask if ill spin castles in the sky or heaven.
dj's who play crowd pleasers not cause the like the track but cause they want to be the man
dj's who listen to ur cd then go buy all ur tracks and make there cd using 90% of you hard sought after tracks

Bumping the needle when requesting a song is my worst. i HATE that.
top 40 gigs are the biggest headache. everyone wants to have their song played (even if they have to come up to me 5 times in 2 hours to ask about a song, even though ive already told them I'd play it.)

I also dont like it when people question my "love" for the music after im forced to cut the music off.

i also dont like when people from the crowd like that tall ball headed guy who always get behind precise when hes spinning and pumps he fist in the air like hes doing something.

i dont like dj's who's entire set consists of mixing from one record to the next. then back again, playing each track for 6 minutes. its fucking boring! might as well have a computer on automix up there!

word up to john with the trance djs who twiddle the eq's for no reason. is it because you're playing a boring set, and you need something to do for 6 minutes?

i also dont like stuck up djs...
stay humble, people will like you more.
