nice one jay, but in the end why are we hatin on anystyle there is good and bad in all genres and it also depends on the dj playing, and a lot of dj's in this city need to keep up to date with buying some new records and not the same ones as everybody else.

It was trance that rescued me from the throes of Euro House in my early days, but more of the stuff being produced by the originators like Jam & Spoon, DJ Dag, Resistance D, and so on. In that effect, I'll always have a soft spot for it.
Unfortunately, the more recent trend of abusing the breakdown-build technique is really annoying to me. If I'm dancing and feeling a good gurn, I do not want to stop. A breakdown tends to kill the moment, especially when it drags on to no payoff. |

trancesteps cool. but regardless.... trance is incredible. i can't deny that my influnces of taste and style in dnb is heavily influenced from trance. Its a spectacular league of some of the most talented dance masters in the world who just put out incredibly produced music. And trance is not alone... theres house, progressive, techno, tribal.... so many genres that work bread and butter with trance... its an untouchable league i'm sad to say this but dnb has nothing to trance. then again, trance needs to be understood and shared from the right people who can give the music its justice. so many fuckin horrible trance djs out there who need to fuck off. trance attracts the more common listener because i think its just a music people can relate to and really feel deep down emotionally if they want to. many people are ignorant towards it, just because theyre stupid. I mean if you can't feel it, fair enough, but i'd say 90% of the people who dog trance are just simply ignorant I can honestly say trance has affected my life on many levels. but i hope the turn around of trance doesn't result in a serious exploitation of it and just sell it out and play it out to the point people would rather stick daggers in their ears then hear another trance track. |

I can hardly accept to label things that come out nowadays as trance. Fact is, trance has largely been takenover by euro-dance and other such cheesy genres. I don't even know what's coming out these days that's 'trance' but I am sure it can never stand together with tunes like
BT - Flaming June Schiller - Lieberschmerz Bedrock - Heaven Scent PvD - For an Angel Anybody that knows those songs and listens to anything coming out these days would know the difference. That's not all, just my.. top 4 I guess. Anyway, there's scarce good trance nowadays, and when I hear people hating trance it hurts... only a bit :) P.S. anybody around here listens to IDM/Experimental? If I say Aphex Twin or Autechre, people start running? :) |
