thats the whole point though.
its supposed to feel as much like a turntable as possible. denon and pioneer decks are for trance djs....the numark is made for more scratch/turntablism djs. Quote:

you probably wouldn't catch any big scratch djs dead scratching CDs on a a cd turntable at a show. I think the whole 'lets make CDJs with an interface as close to vinyl as possible' thing is rather lame. If you want vinyl, play fucking records! CDs are a whole different medium with a whole different set of advantages and disadvantages. Why not build CDJ units around those instead of trying to satisfy DJs' nostalgia? If you scrapped the 12" platter on that CDJ you'd have room for a waveform readout, an in depth sampler section and a whole bunch of effects. Hell even throw an EQ and volume on there. Either that or keep the platter and throw a tone arm on there. now THAT would be cool :D |

say your dj name is dj zonkerball. now that name sucks but you might think its pretty cool. say you want to scratch your name as intro to a cd. how are you going to do that. there's no "zonkerball" lyrics on any records.
the numark cdj opens that window up. its the closest thing to vinyl yet (besides final scratch and serrato. Quote:

turntabalists dont want to abandon vinyl but do see the benefits of using cd's i think.
The denon's and pioneer's are not marketed specifically for trance dj's though. the pioneer's was the first attempt and they pushed it hard on turntabalists. just didnt catch quite on. there's some great demo videos out there. i'm still on the fence with numark....there entire product line previous the ttx series has been total trash and always falls apart...still to early to tell if it'll last whereas i know if i have a cdj-1000 it's a given that it will last a long time. |
