Hard House

Can anyone who's been around for a while in the Vancouver scene tell me what happend to Hard House? When I started, every party was like 80% Hard House, but it dropped off so quick like 3 years ago. Other than the more obvious responses of "It sucks", can anyone actually tell me what happend?

Depends on your version of what hard house is?? Seattle is the place to go..They seem to be bringing alot of the good hard house djs up..DJ Venom :) and I think Mark V and Poogie Bear may be on their way up there soon...I hope :)

Too many djs playing poopyass Tidytrax and not any actually good HH. (Yeah, good hard house actually exists.. I was as suprised when I found out too)
That and when it was big it was WAY over played.
I don't care what anyone says, 80% Hard house at a party is not a good thing.

^^^Yea but playing 80% trance is boring also...why not a happy medium..Vancouver concentrates too much on of few single types of music instead of opening its doors too all electronic music...

Hardhouse has sorta died way for MANY reasons...

Think about the tracks being relased and the seperation of the record lables. Just in short hardhouse is slowly comming back to more of a mainstream concept.

80% trance would be fantastic if it wasn't all epic/anthem/uplifting.

Sadly, most parties with the trance mentality play 80% bad trance.

Exactly, start it off with some proggy stuff, move onto the anthemic and then top that off with techy stuff; much better than 5 hrs of anthems.

As far as hardhouse is concerned, I used to love the stuff back in like 98. After about a year of raving I went to this one all hardhouse party at the spanish cultural centre, and after hearing 7 straight hours of hardhouse it occurred to me that the music was really boring and repetitive; I heard some tracks played like 4 times over the course of the night by different djs, and by hour 5 or so I was really annoyed with the music. Basically, I realized how one dimensional and lame the music was, and that if I wasn't fucked out of my tree I really didn't enjoy it. From talking to a lot of old ravers I hear very similar stories to myself; and the DJs that championed the sound like Scotty-Oh also got sick of it and moved on to other genres.

Well The hard house I listen too and the hard house most of the peeps on this board fall in to 2 different catagories..I listen to mostly chicago hard house and djs such as Mark V and Poogie Bear, Venom, RIP, Darren R ect...Most of the hard house you peeps listen too is too mainstream and just not underground enough for me.. Try booking some real hard house djs here ..That would be nice...Or meet some where in the middle and bring someone like DJ Irene to Vancouver..

You completely eliminated Goa, Acid, Hard and Dirty and the rest of the less poppy sect of Trance. Throw those in there and you have a rather interesting trance evening.

I could personally do without any anthemic trance myself, frankly I really don't care too much as long as the music is good and interesting.

Of course, because I was keeping the average vancouver massive crowd in mind when I made the post =P Hard Trance is often played at most Shy Brother parties though, but I could personally do without. As for Acid Trance, the genre on its own doesn't seem to exist much these days, it's just sort of emalgamated itself into other genres of trance, but I certainly don't hear anymore DJ Misjah style stuff these days. The ultimate party destination for me would be Goa, but I think John '00' Flemming is about as close as mainstream Vancouver ravers would get to it.

BTW, what exactly do you define was "dirty" trance?

the scene for it died, no genre will last forever in a city eventually people will get sick of it.
