it came to me in a dream.
but no, i'm not a DJ...i wish i knew how though and i hold anyone who does know in a godlike position of regard. you guys rock. i can't even play the spoons and your up there mixing records like there's no tommorow. i guess my contribution to the music world is always going to be just: 'listener' |

i taught myself, i wasen't good friends with anyone who had turntables back when i got mine.
the way i learned was listened to all the genres, and finally picking drum&bass as my favourite.. then devoted myself to buying records. ur gonna wanna learn ur records beginning to end. and just keep practicing dropping ur cue point with at the beginning of a new phase. then keep listening to see which track is faster so u can adjust... theres tonnes of info about all this on the internet. If u like the music enough you'll try till you get it. its quite the investment. |

pretty much learned myself.... my friend just put me and the tables and is like "ok.... spin!".. had no idea what i was doing....
i get pointers from alot of my friends .... but i gotta do things hands on myself to learn it.... also listening to alot of music everyday helps... listen to the beats and count along... listen to the breakdown.. ect ect... so your familiar with it when u try to mix.... edit: i agree with bret.... watch other djs spin... u learn alot of cool shit.. :) |

And i dunno how i am gonna watch other dj's up close cuz i dunno ne-_- . Ne dj wanna let me watch at a show sumtime? :P Ne dj's in coq/poco area wanna teach me for low amounts of money?

i would probably practice a lot and see what works best for you, if you spin trance clearly you listen to it. There are a few styles from what i can tell (and i suck at those sorta things). I would try to get the "part of the vocal song i want" matching the "beat of the old song" down right. If you dont have vocals, beat matching is probably the way to go. But hey i aint a DJ so dont ask me~
