first off, you don't even know what I spin if you think I spin speedgarage exclusively (I've got maybe 5 speedgarage records) second off, so what if you've wormed your way into Spooky this year, you're still a shitty DJ and I could still mix better than you if I didn't have headphones to mix with or pitchbenders that slide up and down and hold the correct pitch, bitch ;) third: NO ANSWER?? how about this for an answer, I'm playing at Check Your Step on October 16th... if you want to hear some good music, come out to it and leave your baggage at the door, mister 'I hate everything, including what I play' I doubt I'll see you there, you seem to be pretty confident that no other music but the stuff you listen to can be any good at all... that's ignorance for ya though, innit? sorry.. repedative bassline hoover bullshit doesnt turn me on.
i'll listen to anything else.. I dont bitch at other music.. sure i dont talk about dnb, trip-hop and anything else electronic.. doesnt mean i dont like it. i like breaks, i like ambient, i like techno, i like trance, i like some forms of house and i like dnb. i just hate speedgarage because it gives the listener nothing with variety. hell, i even listen to hip-hop. (after realizing there's more hip hop than that gangster shit) |

one word
recognition speedgarage isn't even one of the genres I'm stoked on, especially some of the new garbage coming out... at least the older shit was trying to push the envelope... the new shit is just trying to either sound like the old shit or sell by using famous acapellas laid overtop of minimal crappy basslines my main love is breaks... all kinds (cept Florida and minimal electro stuff) that's what I'm playing at Check Your Step... breaks with a smattering of speedgarage cuz it's expected of me (and cuz I wanna hear my own basslines on a good system) all with me scratchin tha spice into it with battle wax |

try learning to count time signatures and then learning to scratch
you can get into some insane shit, like scratching out triplet patterns overtop of regularily timed beats, or scratching in dotted notes... the possibilities are unlimited when you learn your time signatures |

What I mean is that in house you only need to bar match and counting the bars so you are phrase matched is not as important as it is in trance or maybe what you are mixing.
Plus counting past 4 is hard. Quote:
