the problem is that very few djs know how to mix techno. first of all, yes techno is easy to beat match but that has nothing to do with spinning techno. Techno is about layering records together, its about combining rythms and sounds as well as hard beats, its about spinning on three decks, and its all about mixing records together in and out without stoping and waiting. There is nothing worst than a techno dj who spins 10-12 records in an hour. Think techno is boring go see Adam Beyer, Mistress Barbara and Dave Mills mix, they will put everyone else to shame with what they do technically.

i like the fact that when i spin techno.. im busy behind the decks were as trance im always waiting for that break to start mixing in.
im still quite new so i do about 10-12 records in an hour.. but i dont have much techno and the selection i have very few go with the records that are playing out therefore its hard to sample filler tracks. But i did find something cool with my latest mix. I'll use three minutes from the record im putting in, flip it over mix that in.. let that one play, take another record.. mix it in and then flip the other one over and use a longer sample. I like the fact i can be creative with my mixing. |
