Hotel California's a pretty good track... I prefer the Spanish Version by the Gypsy Kings myself (also in the Big Lebowski).

But what else have the Eagles got going for them other than that song and to a lesser extent that album? I tried to get into them because of the hype and I never found out what it was all about.

The Eagles are probably the last great country band.

What!? Country!!?? Yeah, that's right. True, Hotel California isn't really country in the CMT version we tend to think of, but how about Heartache Tonight? These guys pretty much invented country rock. It's a shame it never really was as good as they made it in the following decades, but that's corporate music for ya'.
