i'm not sure there is really one world's best mc. black thought is up there, but i can't say he's the best.
edit: i forgot to say why; technically speaking, his flow and breath control are unmatched in my books, and lyrically speaking, he is the king. |

reason being is because a coworker and I had a really great discussion on the matter today and although our opinions differed so much, it's interesting to know who people prefer and why :) there's no wrong answer, though people may disagree. |

Melle Mel for old school... untouchable in his era, would've roasted many of today's mcs even back then
From the Golden Era... Rakim, KRS One, Kool G Rap, Kane, GURU, Chuck D... i'd have a hard time choosing an absolute favorite recently... i don't hear much that excites me like the old-timers do.. but Ghostface is definitely still on it, and the whole Quannum crew blew me away last summer. okay after a little thought, i'd say if i had to pick an all-time favorite it would be CHUCK D. The voice, the flow, the lyrics, the politics, the energy.... nobody wraps it all into one like Mistachuck. Plus he's aged really gracefully, stepping back a bit from the recording & touring but staying involved in hiphop by way of his radical politics. |

Ask me again in 6 months and I'll probably have a different answer but for now I'd Say Gift of Gab. I'd say he's one of the best for the way he can flow, his lyrical content is tight and he can rock the fuck out of a live show. Also his new album has kept growing on me even after listening to it a lot.
