I heard an interesting little bit about The Postal Service today.
The US Postal Service threatened legal action against them for using the name without the apparent legal right to do so. In response the PS told the USPS that the reason they named their band the PS is because almost all of the songs had come togehter through the mail. Both memebrs of the group are in groups of their own and they kept in touch sending lyrics and music through the mail. Apparently the entire album came together like this and therefore the band chose the PS as their name. The USPS was amazed by this and allowed them to use the name as long as the PS agreed to do promotional appearances and such for them. The USPS figures that by using a popular band they can keep in touch with the youth of America... the future of their business as one rep said. OK.... cool story and all but does the mail service really need to 'keep in touch' with the youth? It's fucking mail! |

heh, they totally do need to keep in touch with the youth. Tell you the truth, as embarrassing as it is, I can't really use the mail. All those steps, gotta get stamps, gotta figure out how much the postage is to get wherever.... bah! I'm getting nervous already! |
