LOVE LOVE LOVE Underworld from that era. You should pick up DUBNOBASSWITHMYHEADMAN. They started to suck after that... well, they had a few more good hits after that album, but overall, the first album was the best, hands down. The second and third albums sounded WAAAY too much like "Cowgirl" + "born slippy" remade several times :-) ppcock: I played Rez at the first Fred Gets Cheeky... an old techno fanatic friend of mine made a request for old time's sake :) hhehehehee... Oh yeah, watch out what you call "techno" around here ;) Even though I would agree with you that Underworld is techno, most others around here would not, specially the techno-elite. I am just old and we used to call EVERYTHING that was ravey and electronic, techno! Back then, everything was techno :) Now I believe they would call Cowgirl "early 90s Progressive House" :-) -f. with genre's being made daily.. im just going to stick to calling it techno because that is what it originally was called.
early 90's progressive house.. that is awful. imo the techno-elite should stick to calling it techno. early 90's acid techno is still called acid techno! |

Underworld will forever be "Techno" to me.
Detroit can go stuff its head in the toilet and flush. =p "I scream I scream I scream so much you know what I mean this electric stream and my tears in league with the wires and energy and my machine this is my beautiful dream i'm a hurtin' no-one, hurtin' no-one, hurtin' no-one, hurtin' no-one, I wanna give you energy I wanna give you everything I wanna give a good thing and I want to give you everything everything everything everything everything everything everything everything everything everything everything in one final scream of love who could climb this high she looks beautiful like a child I feel tears and I want to scream you know what I mean cause this is hurtin' no one. An eraser of love!" *flail* |

I really dig Underworld's live version of Rez/Cowgirl. It's fucking choice.
And a lot of people hail Born Slippy as their best... frankly, I didn't like it as much as Underworld. Too much of the floaty trancey stuff, not enough of the crazy techy computer madness that Cowgirl had. For all Underworld fans, you should check out Everything Everything, their live album. Starts off real strong, with a 3-track set beginning with Juanita/Kiteless, moving into Cups which mixes EXCEPTIONALLY well with Push Upstairs. 8 tracks and each and every one a classic. And as for calling them "Early 90s Progressive House", that nomer far better describes their Change The Weather album than Dubnobassetc. onwards. |

Imagine the driving force of Moaner, the techiness of Cowgirl, and the complex overlay rhythm of Pearl's Girl, backed by a 4/4 beat. If it only had some vocals it would be absolutely unstoppable. |
