Rules: Feel free to change the category to whatever you want, or use one that's already been mentioned. Whatever tickles your fancy. But you must list 5. Can list them in order of preference, chronilogically, or in no particular order. If you do pick an order, do mention what order it's in. Otherwise we can just assume the latter. Can be albums, concerts, singles, tracks, records, cds, whateeeeever.... just as long as it pertains to music.

Then it's a good thing I'm not just asking for Top Songs.

It can be any category pertaining to music.

Top 5 albums, Top 5 EPs, Top 5 B Sides, Top 5 Breakbeats songs, Top 5 Emo songs (they better all be Fugazi), Top 5 Mashups, etc. etc. etc. Be creative. If you can't be creative, pick a category already mentioned. Get it?

I'm pretty sure Aphex Twin ranks above EBTG and Jam and Spoon for top electronic CD. The question is simply which one. A case could be made for absolutely any of his LPs, excepting maybe SAW2.

/\ true, true :-) that's why I said I was forgetting something(s)...

which Aphex Twin do you think would be in the top 5? Mr. Richard D. James does have a LOT of really good albums...

I have been an electronic music fanatic since 1991, but never really got into his stuff.... the only Aphex Twin I bought was the EP for On... but I am sure they deserve top 5 credit, cause most other electronica lovers really dig his stuff.

Critically, Richard D. James album gets the most credit, but my own personal faves are ...I Care Because You Do and Drukqs. I wish I could say where they fit into the overall scheme of electronic music, but the only RDJ release that I was in the music scene for was Drukqs. I was quite a noob when Windowlicker was released even.

I'd say Drukqs. It's my all-time favourite album. But the only other album in the running is ...I Care Because Yo Do, so I dunno. Stop making me make hard decisions, dammit. :)

Top 5 Sci-Fi Movies That Have Been Pilfered For Samples:

1. 2001: A Space Odyssey
2. Dune
3. The Matrix
4. 12 Monkeys
5. 2010: The Year We Make Contact

Oddly enough, you don't see that many Star Wars or Star Trek (movies, that is) samples in EDM.

/\ you forgot the classic Orion (4) - Star Trek (Tekkno Mix), featured on the very first techno CD I bought, Techno Trax vol. 4:

http://www.discogs.com/release/137698

this cd is a classic all around.

Also, on Petal, where is the Star Trek sample?

changing over to "top 5 electronica tracks from 1990-1995":

- Underworld - Cowgirl
- Orbital - Halcyon On On
- Hardfloor - Acperience
- Opus III - Fine Day
- Orb - Little fluffy Clouds

again, this is subject to your taste, etc... etc... that's just what I think was important to what came after 1995 ;-)
