If You Had..
$2000 to spend on a setup what would you buy? mixer+table+pa?+what else? What kind of mixer , what kind of table, etc.. I'm not very knowledged when it comes to equip, so help me figure out what I should do. 1 thing I want to be able to do is take mp3s that I've made on the comp with programs and have them recording with scratching for example.. how would I go about doing that? I know technics are solid for scratching, but are pricey.. I was thinkin of gettin used off ebay. In terms of mixer, I have no idea.. I just don't want crap.

your definately not gonna get a PA with tables and a mixer for under 2000. Anything worthwhile at least.
If u want turntables to scratch overtop ur beats. Your gonna need a couple technics, 900-1100 used if your lucky. Mixer go with a scratch mixer like a ecler hak360, Rane TTM56, or a Vestax pmc07 pro. Your gonna want shure M44-7 cartridges for scratching purposes. That alone there is gonna cost you a bit over 2000.. the vestax mixer is propably the cheapest used mixer out of the 3 listed. Your also gonna want to think about getting a low end m-audio sound card or something like that. they range 200-450. You can do a search on www.future-producers.com for medium grade sound cards. Actually i might have a Audigy platinum card for you.. comes with a PCI card and drive for your drive bay, gives you RCA in and outs etc etc to record your scratching or whatever from your turntables to your computer.... |

I'm thinkin I might just get 1 table for the time being, used technics, and a used mixer, then just use my speakers if I want to take it somewhere. I figure, with 1 table, if I need to have a beat with something scratching over top. i can just go on the comp have the beat goin and scratch another vocal or w/e over it with the table. i'll talk to you about your soundcard.. i'll hopefully have a mac laptop soon that i could hook up to things if I want to bring it to a party. how much would a decent PA be?
