I took a look at those mixers akeel, and it took me FOREVER to read all of that. but it's all really cool shit. I'm going to keep looking around to see what else is up, but i like the mic/line 3 option. that's a very very cool extra feature in the ... hak? series.

Had an HAK 360 for over a year now. Great and I do mean great, mixer. I've played on dozens of mixers over the years and I'm very impressed with this Ecler. Plus, the corssfader comes with a 5 year warranty. Pioneer also makes quality mixers, but the crossfaders suck for cutting. I'm not sure about their new battle series though. Pioneer just dropped the price on the mixer www. turntablelab.com and others are selling the 707 for US$299!!! Which is even tempting for me to buy as a spare. The new Technics mixer also looks pretty butter.
Here's a link to fairly honest reviews on alot of mixers. http://www.turntablelab.com/index1-eq.html |

For your price range i'd recommend probably a vestax pmc07, although its slider EQ, and i prefer rotary, it'll do u well for now.. I had a pmc05 , which only has 2 band EQ, no mids, and it lasted me a looong time. long enough for me to get started and into mixing. Im not sure about the other vestax mixers, but there quite a few in the 300-500 range.. the 07pro2 being at the top of that range. the cheaper mixers i can't vouch for, but from my experience vestax has treated me well.

My "mixer"
Actually it's not a mixer but an M-Audio X-Session MIDI controller set up to emulate a regular 2 channel mixer. Used with Traktor which has a software mixer that the box controls. Running on a notebook computer. I use this box to control level and 3 EQ bands per channel, a bandpass/notch filter per channel, EQ kill switches, master volume and headphone/cue volume, plus a light-touch cross-fader. The knob & fader layout is unconventional but can be set to emulate the Traktor screen layout. It's a reasonably good layout once you try it a while, and makes for a small size system that works well with a notebook computer. |

Ok, i'm stuck between 3 mixers. can i get opinions from you guys?
HAK 310 - I'm reading some great and not so great reviews on it. The main not-so-good quality is the fact that many people (on german web forums) are swapping crossfaders with the Ecler's. Is that a good sign, or are people just being hardcore and choosing to do that for enthusiast reasons.. (it was in german... so when i got it translated, i didn't know whether to read between the lines or not) PMC05 - i've always dreamed of ownign a Vestax. but. it's pretty baller in price. and if i get the pmc05, i won't be able to upgrade my cell phone too. heh. or Pioneer 707 - I found it online on a couple of sites for $300 USD. If i really am basing my whole purchasing strategy on 'you get what you pay for' than is this quality mixer now obsolete? or is it cheaper because Pioneer is just bringing out all of their newer age stuff (like the 909)? WHY is this mixer dropping in price?!?! anyways, thoughts? |

pmc05 - the base model has been discontinued, there's two new versions of it out right now, one has a delay fx...the other i cant remember what changes they've made. pioneer 707 - i've heard its a factory price drop, not sure why though, probably low sales. |
