Simple answer to everyone genre analysim is to call it all Techno or Electronic Music and then just weed out the tracks you dont like. Pure PLUR.
I think his oldskool rave hardcore (or whatever he calls it) is a bit messed up as some of those tracks should be under early happy hardcore The only thing I will give him praise on is having Ministry in there. |

Someone asks a question like this in a thread about Ishkur. Funny that. The guy's made a name of himself by ranting off about a bunch of shit nobody really gives a fuck about.
I've gotten people that have gone into diatribes about who gives a shit what the difference is between Jungle and Drum n Bass. The funny part about it was immediately afterwards everybody in the room suddenly mentioned Ishkur's Guide. Followed with "Trust me. You'll enjoy it." |

Unarguably its a well put together guide. What I respect the most (of which wouldn't cross the majority of people) is the time put into such a project. By no means is it some cut/paste kindergarten homework. I have had many ideas along these lines but never followed through, my extracurricular projects usually die about halfway.. [*cough fnk]
Ishkurs guide is based on a single tune per genre. Obviously what one person calls the general idea of Breaks wont be the same as anothers, especially five years ago. It was new and the 'hot link' when I first started to party, I think after all this i'll go back and enjoy it one more time. Updates?! =) j/k |

Well speaking of Hardcore I set up a local site www.mulletcore.com for that community but seems to have died so will probably be using it for my shoutcast station as I restart it next month.

I was trading some mp3's with this dj down in Brazil on Soulseek and he sent me a link to check out this 'killer website' that chronicled electronic music.... imagine my surprise when he sent me a link to Ishkur's Electronic Music Guide.
Obviously he's done a half decent job if people in different parts of the world have picked up on the site. |

Well, I don't think that Kent has a responsibility to anyone. He made it for his own entertainment. And how are they told the wrong thing? That's just your opinion. So don't bash on him for stating his opinion. I personally think the guide is good for new people, it shows a lot of genre's of music that people would other wise not be exposed to. If they can't see that the humor it's there lost. I mean the genre's I enjoy are made fun of just as much as the rest... |
