#1 - this post was started in March, so this isn't exactly "retaliation"
#2 - that jungle rant was an *old* piece taken from some random website and even though it's not particularly funny, it's at least meant to be taken tongue-in-cheek rather that a straight-up hater post like this is. And seriously, a lot of those points are spot-on anyway ;) #3 - not saying you do jib, but agro posts like this contributes to a bad association that the scene has been trying to shake for years. I've known plenty of trance/breaks/house/etc. fans that were addicted to jib, but you'll notice that jungle/dnb is the genre that gets associated with it the most and attitudes like this is a big reason why. #4 - Not a fan of Happy Hardcore myself, but I recommend checking out the old Hardcore UK Rave stuff as that's pretty much what jungle came from. I still prefer most of the old-school, '92-95, 150-165 bpm ragga and jungle (especially the classic Moving Shadow stuff) to 80% of the predictable, cookie-cutter dnb anthems being produced today. #5 - have you noticed it's usually the dnb-headz are the ones vocally hating on other genres the most? Maybe it's an inferiority complex thing due to popularity of the genre or something (god knows I've been guilty of it myself). Last edited by dj_soo; Sep 19, 05 at 01:53 PM. |

I would think HH fans do more jib cuz the 4/4 timing at that bpm is totally tek'd out. Sure Jungle/DnB is the same bpm, but it's the off beat that you dance to or ever second symbal crash/snare hit whatevr's that I dance to so it's alot more chill and slower dancing. That being said though, if I'm in a hella cheesy mood I can stand a bit of HH with the bass turned down really low so I don't havta deal with the boom boom boom and then I'll flail to every second bass kick and it's almost like an off beat jungle step. I just can't stand the loud HH or even just plain Hardcore because that damned bass keep kicking me in the side of the head with it's steel toed boots, boom boom BOOM BOOM boom boom BOOM BOOM aaauugh (not hating, just venting) |

one of the rare sub-genre's of hardcore is breakcore...
Now breakcore is very unique considering it uses elements of hardcore, dnb/jungle/ragga, breaks and compiles it into one piece and up the tempo.... many breakcore producers that are out there mainly have most of a strong dnb/jungle background then anything. Breakcore is very abstract... there are some tracks that can be beatmatched and some that really you can't.... instead just experiment... |
