trance music played a bit faster.
Say you have..
lets say.... umm john digweed - heaven scent (evolution main mix) Thats a 9minute song Do you think it would be acceptable if a dj put that song on like +8 and worked a set going faster than usual uplifting trance... would you people like that. it would be faster uplifting trance. - SOniK |

I used to play mp3s on BPM studio (dj mix program) so I could play goa/psy/uplifting trance at +16... I LOVED IT!!! It made so many songs kick just a bit more ass! I made a few goa mixes for myself at +16. No actual beatmatching because the program wasn't dynamic enough for anything complicated. But the trance played faster rocked!
"Lockport" by Infrared is a really good song to boost. |

It depends on the track Marty. With a lot of vocal tracks you can't pitch it up past +5 without making it sound lame. I have some record that I pitch up about 6-7% on avg, and another that I've pitched to the max without taking anything away from it (Kamaya Painters - Wasteland (Chab's tribute to bedrock mix), works great at any pitch). There's no rule against doing this; do whatever you want as long as it sounds good.

I agree with you there, a lot of harder/darker trance sounds better faster, but even then I think around 144-145 is as high as I'd want to go (mind you I don't play any goa). Hehehe, most of my records can't even be pitched past 145 on techs.

that is of course, provided that the records are all cut at 33rpm in the first place. :) |
