whats the point!?
same shit's gonna happen as it does every time, it happend with spped garage back in the day, hard house, trance and now back to speed garage. every tom ,dick, and flailer dj hears someone playin it and people go off (for a bit) so they bite the style, then their buddies and it gets all hyped. then......producer after producer starts to over produce the same regurgitated bullshit basslines untill it's so saturated that everyone gets sick of it and it goes away just as quickl;y as the flybynight fans , be it the dj's or the kids, it had. it may as well be the vancouver canucks, our little scene, people jumpin on and off that bandwagon so much. anyways I had to rant for a bit so now all u haters can have yer fun. do yer worst/best. i actually get a kick out of it.
SNotty "GHB" HO! ps: don't get it twisted, i've been here the whole time, but i aint no better. i'm not blaming just state'n the facts as i see em. |

We may not ALL attend a show where you are spinning, but doesn't mean they don't like Speed Garage. If you only knew how many ppl Patrick has converted to liking Speed Garage, you'd be impressed. Not to say there wasn't already a mass group before hand. We're still out there, we just dont rave as much. bring it to a club or something... You'd be impressed. |

Hmmm - this was an interesting blip in UK dance music history - no sooner had it been christened by our UK Dance press before it morfed into UK Garage, 2-Step, Breakbeat Garage or UKG.
In the begining (1994-1997) it was any 4/4 / Garage track pitched up from the usual trad BPM of 120-125 to 130-135 BPM - then the producers started to produce for this scene & reflected our UK Reggae, DnB & Breakbeat styles in their tracks like ripgroove etc. At this point alot of the Garage DJs started dropping DnB @ half speed into their sets (Inc. my own DnB prods) - then it became the asforementioned UKG etc. Apart from 'oldskool' / rivival / back to... nites the nearest thng we have to it now is our 4/4 garage scene - here's a few sites catoring for this (altho not exclusively): -------- http://www.prolificrecordings.com/karlbrown.asp (This page feat karl brown - 1 half off tuffjam - IMO a good prod team from the speed garage era - he's on MJ Cole's prolific label - check his site while ur at it. -------- Grant Nelson's site (Often known as the 'godfather' of UKG - altho producing good soulful & latin House nower days: www.wyze.com/swingcity/ -------- www.9nine3.com A south London Pirate station which still features 4/4 & 2-step Garage along with grime, house, ragga, rnb, dnb etc. -------- Do you ppl know these ppl - I think they're based in Toronto?? - any of you been to their parties??: www.garagehousemusic.com Tell you what you think. Check my show also as I drop oldskool / speed / 2 step Garage from time to time. & I drop alot of Soulful house also which again has alot of links with speed garage. Listen to archived shows via the link in my sig: Last edited by funky4u; Apr 20, 05 at 09:31 PM. |

Grime - it's now more of a UK Hip Hop style with DnB, Bashment & Garage as it's roots. I think it has some way to go in it's development - but I'm keeping an open mind that it might produce something good as it evolves. f4u |
