just a thought....
I dont think junglists push away new comers... i think more so they embrace them with wanting the music to be heard and they just want to have a good time...I guess its just people like being around other people who share an appriciation.....who wants to be around a buncha barstars at an underground party?....

Yeh other citys LOVE the hard sound, i.e Seattle. So that can't be a major contributing factor.

it definetly is a major contributing factor cuz it scares people away. i can't deny how many times i've cleared rooms when i dropped hard stuff at the wrong time =p
i've always felt the hard stuff needs to be worked into and presented right to be enjoyed... hard dnb is the sound you either fuckin rock on and totally love or can't stand.

I think most of the experienced dnb DJs in town know how to play for the crowd and don't rock the heavy shit to an empty club...

Generally, it's a lot of the newer guys who show up at whatever open deck nights are going that don't realize that playing something like Tech Itch or Twisted Individual at 10:30 probably isn't a good idea...

yup exactly.

anyways lately i've been getting very good comments from my friends who are far from ravers. many feel that the music is even starting to gain a strong mainstream appeal

there's a difference between pretty girls, and barstars. i for one can't stand going somewhere where it feels like meatmarket. that's why i love our DnB/jungle scene here. people go for the music, and their friends, not to get laid.

The reason I originally posted this is because last night a friend and I probably went through 150-170 new (in the last 6 months, say) tracks online, he bought $170 worth and I was a jealous fuck, but, MAN! Some wicked shit out there!

Clipz - Slippery Slopes
J-Majik & Wickerman - You disgust me - This track is on fire! Hot shit!
John B & Marilyn - New Shit Rmx - Uh oh, here come the goths!
Pendulum - Plante/Voyager
Hoodlum & Wickerman - Ring of fire
D.Kay/Rawfull/Dylan/Robin Chaos - Be There 4 U (Concord Dawn Rmx) - probably some of the best integration of vocals into d&b i've ever heard..

AND THAT'S JUST TO NAME A FEW! DAMN YO!

I'm liking Hospital Records & Phuturistic Bluez Records

Sometimes the BPMs are so high (180+) that it's more like happy hardcore IMO - I prefer the Jazz step / Liquid rollers - but I like to hear new approaches & ideas also in all the styles.

- Also check the new Influx Datum album out - deep Bluesy DnB Pressssssssure - trusssssssssst rude bwoys & gals.

Yes in the UK it's been ad & TV background music for years. Also movies - rob playford did some of the James Bond Movie with Goldie etc., Also the Matrix etc.

IMO if it supports the next DnB track coming out then it's all good.
