Engineering-wise, yea these new producers are crazy. Apart from that, I'd say it's just as good as it is now as it was 5 years ago.

it's so different now then what it was 5 years ago

5 years ago i'd say an mc was almost essential for a really bumpin jungle party... now production is so advanced. tracks are made to be amazed at on their own.

i think dnb is definetly getting good this summer. lots of tracks with soul and grooves.. that generic techy shit gets too much

kemal and rob data, rob data isn't doing anything anymore, and kemal found jesus or some other shit like that, and won't release even his old unreleased tunes, as they are to hard.
no idea if either will be heard from again.

yup, gotta say it, musically drum and bass is definitely at a peak again....in terms of the scene that's kind of another story.

the scene seems to be dooing realy well when compared to 4-5 years ago.

musically? yeah its gotten alot better. i think fresh and high contrast have alot to do with that.

plenty of other producers as well...but those are the first two that come to mind.

from my own observation...

i haven't really been to many full out junglehead parties in the last 2 years but my friends all have told me that dnb has quite a bad reputation of being noisy and shitty. when they hear the more musical drum and bass, they don't even realize it's drum and bass. but once it starts to sound like the drum n bass theyre accustomed to, they start to turn away.

junglist culture quite possibly might be what really destroys the possibilty of the scene expanding to a more "normal" crowd. they're the most die hard supporters no doubt, but i find them pushing away the new-comers, and constantly try to make their scene exclusive to their own social outcast kind.

just a thought....

Its growing for sure....its kinda nuts cus i here drum n bass in commercials now.... That midnight racer dub edition commercial plays dieselboys "follow the leader" and i heard high contrast in a newlyweds episode... in like high speed action scences and car commercials aswell...its weird...
but as far as weather i like drum and bass more now than i did few years ago, its hard.. because Ive always loved what i was a hearing...

its good to see its only goin up

^ I've noticed that too! I also hear a short clip of some track I can't identify on the Fox when they're blabbing about something or other. It's slowly infiltrating more common places. :)
