yea but there are many tracks like that. This style was really popular during 2003- early this year.
a better example would be Patrick Alavi - 1992 (JJ flores and Steve Smooth Remix). check it out if you havne't heard it. Same build ups.. same everything pretty much.

This however is not really Armstrong's style... granted that he made groove in you with Angello, and has a couple other remixes that would go under the same catagory (like "I feel good"'s remix)... But I'd still like to think of Armstrong as a heavy Funky House producer with very twisted basslines.
Check out:
Make your move
Makin Me Hot
His remix of "Thinking"
uniqua
remix of "latino disco"

the list goes on...

As of late it seems his style has been loopy disco. You hear his Out Of Touch cover he put out last year? The one Junior Jack promptly did a blatant rip-off that was more commercially feasable (and as such did better)?

Apparently his next one (due out this summer) is another one of these loopy filter disco tracks (from what I hear). I could be wrong though.

i think Vito's a great producer.
I really hate his habbit of ripping shit, but i like the tracks he's produced over the years.
One thing about him is that he keeps making mainstream tunes that tend to play out very quickly.

^^Ya I agree Vito is a dope producer, just seems he always "borrows" samples and such off other people. But really in the end everything has been borrowed a million times anyways right.

but now that i realize it's REAL instruments, and not shitty synth stuff like trance, i REALLY dig it.

Like Daft Punk at all?

Most of their loops are borrowed. Robot Rock is, Harder Better Faster Stronger is, I think One More Time is too...

Huh?

House uses synths, buddy. They just sound more organic usually.

Either that or they're old disco/funk/soul samples.

Just giving you a heads up man. More often than not you're listening to synths and nothing else.

I've heard guitars and pianos in trance and techno too.

House is also pretty much all about synths. like ebbomega said they may only sound more organic.

What really seperates House from the other forms of the genre, is the feel. Be it funk, hard, gospel, bluesy, jazzy, ...and thats the beauty. The broad range is what makes house what it is.
Now to create "the feel", artists are really picky about the synths they use. Be it overdrive guitars, Slap bass, percussion, realtime sampled drums, or whatever. I doubt many artists would go out of their way to actually sample actual instruments (sometimes they do.. but there are usually good reasons behind it). You can make your synths sound like actual instruments to a point that noone can tell. There are tricks on how to do this. be it layering your sounds, shuffling (having different velocities for different layers), reverbs.. bla bla

BUT IT IS ONLY IN HOUSE THAT IT MATTERS!!

Just about every rave I've been to since 1998 has fucking played Axel F, usually some shoddy genre-stereotype remix.

I hate it.

I love the original. Nobody ever plays that though.

I somewhat stand corrected then...... however... i can still hear the real piano, real guitar, etc, that's what i wanna hear. REAL basslines.. with bass guitars! i don't care if they used pro tools "real drumset" to create the beat, cuz hey i do that too, it sounds decent. as long as they use some real samples, and put some soul into it, that's what im lookin for.

and yes, there are some trance producers who put soul into their music too..... i like A.V.B because some of his mixes, *not sure about all?* are him rippin a bassline with a guitar, adding in a drum beat on the comp, then throwing over synth sounds and piano here and there......

its just the music that is done 100% on a computer i don't like...... when you can really tell.

Like I said... It's an "organic" feel (as opposed to techno's "synthetic" feel).

They both have their place. But that being said, check out some Electroclash... A lot of the more synthetic breaks basslines and synths with a funky house beat. Here's some examples:

Soulwax - NY Excuse
Alter Ego - Rocker
anything by Rex The Dog
Mylo - Drop The Pressure
Felix Da Housecat - Silver Screen Shower Scene

All kinds of happy goodness in those ones there. If you like I know of tons more.

I've heard a couple of AvB tracks I'd consider house, frankly.
