1) Armand. "Armin Van" is a trance dj.
2) What older stuff? He has about three phases of his career thus far. First his hardcore stuff (when he was making everything sound like The Witchdoctor), then his speed garage days (when he made everything sound like his remix of Spin Spin Sugar), and finally his disco house days (where he made Tori Amos sound FUNKY!)

Most of my list is late 90s/early 00's. Because that was mainly when I was really into House. Dave Armstrong and Steve Angello are really good these days. Sadly, Eric Prydz is just doing some mad stylebiting of these boys and isn't as good at it if you ask me (I'm really getting sick of hearing Call On Me at every rave I go to... it's seriously last year's Sandstorm).

Olav Basoski is the undisputed King of disco house. Check out his remix of Moby's Bodyrock, Junior Jack's E Samba, or even his original stuff is really class.

Shakedown - At Night (Kid Creme Remix) is everything good about house.

Oh, and Kylie Minogue's Fever album is choice. Really class beats, and god I love her voice. Kylie Minogue is everything Britney Spears should fucking be. Frankly I think the biggest injustice in the world is that Kylie gets breast cancer while Britney is allowed to procreate. *sigh*

Who Da Funk - Shiny Disco Balls, from the early house sect of electroclash is fucking awesome. One of those get-the-girls-on-the-floor tracks.

Benny Benassi... well... he kinda has his base style, and everybody's all over Satisfaction. Frankly I think his earlier single, Able To Love is waaaaaaaay better.

Yeah, Jaxx is definately House. So is Jamiroquai, for that note.

A couple more names:
Todd Terry
Felix Da Housecat (more electroclashy)
anybody featuring Michelle Weeks, one of the best fag-house vocalists to grace the genre.

Frankie Knuckles, Phuture, and Marshall Jefferson for classic Chicago-style house.

"professional widow" with tori amos was one of his early productions. Back in the day Helden had done some pretty good remixes that gave him good publicity. eversince early 1990's.. (1992 i think) he started with shit like "stay on my mind" and Sultans of Swing's "move it to the left". Late 1990's he came up with choons like "the funk phenomena" and "cha cha".
these are his older stuff, and they're all good. His recent productions like "hear my name" or "my my my" sold a lot of copies. But imo, they are lacking a whole bucket of funk. Hear my name's got a crazy synth going on, it just sounds incomplete.

Everyone knows that Prydz has been biting on Angello eversince he was a kid. Angello is the reason why he is even famous. I agree with you there, as i don't see much talent come out of this guy. Call on Me is a cliche. Slammin' was kinda annoying if you ask me. But deffinately not Armstrong. i don't see how he fit in this picture? His style is like completely different.

Old school disco loops, heavy on the filters. How is Call On Me so different from Groove In You (aside from the fact that, well, Groove In You is about 8 billion times better)?

PS: Really? I thought that the Professional Widow remix was one of the later ones of Armand's... I thought it came out ~2000....

*pause to check* Hrm. 96. Who knew? Crazy.
