they don't play progressive house, LoL
it's best described as "Jackin" house, as it doesn't really fit into any of the established house genres, based on the shuffled percussions and tech elements fused with classy funk elements it's kind of like what would happen if speedgarage went tasteful ;) |

it's funny how it's true that it's not yet got a sub-genre made up for it yet
I call it "Jackin House" because... well... it's fuckin JACKIN and CRACKIN bitches! I know it's been around for a long time, but it's starting to really pick up momentum around the Vancouver scene, with new nights all over the place and new DJs collecting this brand (aka me and my roomie) I'm definately happy about being involved in the Jackin scene! |

it's not 'jackin house', it's loosely tech-house. or underground house as jay tripwire would say. ('jackin house' makes me think of mid-80's unprocessed proto-house.. ?!) it's been around for ages and is hugely popular everywhere, including vancouver.. hellooooo tyler stadius? the aformentioned tripwire? This is the sound of Saturday nights across Europe and the North American West Coast.. it's nothing new

it doesn't need to be new to blow up
and I can't think of anything more jackin (jackin is my descriptive word for it, not a genre name that I'm trying to insinuate into the scene) there have already been many debates on the subject of the word jackin, but in the end the conclusion was that people take this shit way too seriously and need to get on the dancefloor and jack their bodies to the kickass rhythms laid down by those who can rock it hard :D |

the thing is... I don't take this whole thing seriously... so really... the use of the word jackin and the fact that it brings contraversy whenever I mention it is a source of endless amusement to me
the fact that nobody can ever agree on what to call the style of music played by the likes of Lawnchair Generals, aside from just "house" is pretty damn funny in itself I just associate the word "jackin" with "crackin" drums and shuffled percussion work, not unlike speedgarage and 2-step, but with far more maturely themed basslines and usually either rhode keys or bleepy techy sounds that make you wanna put on a jazz hat and do spirit fingers chaaaa |
