Headphones
Well i've had these Sennheiser hd280pro's for awhile now and i love the sound, they broke in a while ago and sound great. Only prob is i made the mistake of using the jack as a hook to hang my headphones. Now the wire is bleeding in and out at that point. Has anyone ever had this problem and attemped surgery on these headphones?
If not, what do you guys think of the pioneer offering? Or maybe i should just stick with the same kind of headphones... hmmm |

Just solder in a new jack. Take you a few minutes, parts maybe $8. RP Electronics have all the bits you need.
I've replaced the cables on my Senn E2200's prolly three times, but that's only because the E2200's are the cheap shitty version of the HD series... whatever, tho, they were free. |

the 280hd's are great, especially the isolation. only thing i dont like is that they keep breaking in the same spot (i replaced mine 3 times before deciding to get the pioneers)
the 280's have a 2year warranty, so if you still have the receipt try and return them. otherwise, the pioneers are a good choice! the isolation is good, not as good at 280's, but everything else is great |

Pioneer's are over rated, they actually kinda suck. The mechanism are more prone to snap than Sonys. And the leather on the Pioneers is too rough and hard, The hole on the earcup is smaller on the Pionneer too. Wack. Last edited by Toxxin Ephekt; Sep 16, 05 at 05:02 AM. |

The sennheiser hd25 are what I rock. Great for djing and production. Little less isolation on them compaired to the 280s. In comparison to all other headphones, the sennheiser hd25s are the best sounding and for me the best fitting. Sony and pioneer is just absolute garbage. They look flashy and that's about it. Give me the ulgy ass hd25s anyday. Btw all the parts are replacable.
Good luck fixin' your cans=) |

Go Sennheiser (580's are highly recommened by almost all audiophiles) and never go back to anything less.
Unless, of course, you decide to take the next step up and go for the gusto with electrostatic headphones. Read all about 'em. |

I need circum-aural if I'm going to wear a set of headphones for more than a few minutes at a time. Ears weren't built to be pressed against your head like that... after three hours, it gets downright painful! |

One thing about isolation, I wish people would realize, that it's not as huge of a deal in a club situation if DJs didn't have the monitors turned up so damn loud... Last edited by dj_soo; Sep 18, 05 at 05:47 PM. |

I've had my Sony MDR-CD480's for a good 4 years or more.
http://pics.eternity.cz/Orig/mdr-cd480.jpg They are very lightweight, which is deceptive because they are rather large. Great sound quality. I have to recommend them, even though I generally don't like Sony products. |

over sony 7's? hell yes. btw, you got it backwards...the sonys have the design flaw which makes the housing crack over the left ear cup because bad design places stress on that particular joint and not evenly over the headband and the other joint. |

for isolation it depends on how big your ears are...fit is more important then anything. seeing a couple pairs of each break is one thing when you're talking with your dj buddies. knowing that world wide sony 7's break in the exact same spot 90% of the time is another, versus standard wear and tear on the pioneers. |
