what does isolation mean? ive seen a lot of people explaining headphones with the word isolation. can someone please explain it to me?

It is how much the headphones cancel out outside noise. Try on a pair of Sennheiser HD280 pro's at Tom lee and you'll notice they cup over your entire ear and grip tight to your head. Cancels out a lot of noise so that you can hear the music better in loud enviroments i.e a club.
