illy the reason i got er25's is because even at a really loud party, 25db reduction is not enough to cover all hearing damage... it just minimizes it. 15's are just going to leave another 10db of damage on top of that.. *shrug*

i'm surpised more dj's don't wear earplugs
when you think of it if your a hardcore dj your ears are your tools
you don't see mechanics (good ones) smashing their expensive hardwear
but then again hearing loss is a MUCH slower process

i try not to go to really loud parties for a long time, and i stand as far away from the speakers as possible. i remember one year at wmc my ears were ringing for nine days (naturally, it was the DSCI4 label launch party) =).

My parents had custom ear plugs fitted yrs ago, bc they ride Harleys. Totally smart for anyone around a lot of noise!

I got a pair a couple of months ago at a local hearing place in North Van. It came to about $160 and they keep the molding for 3 years incase I ever loose them. My filters are at 25 db wich I think are a bit much at a regular club. Yet great for bigger places like Plush or around really shitting sound systems. I plan to go back and order in a pair of 15 db filters which I hear are only about $20. That way I can easly change the filters, but keep the same molding.

Im very happy with them and enjoy them alot as I can hear ppl perfectly up close, but it blocks out all the bad loud sounds. I can still dance and hear the beat when mixing. Although I may have to turn up the cue a bit more than usual, but it doesnt hurt the ears. The only trouble I find is my own speaking voice as I tend to talk alot quiter when wearing them and no one can hear me :p

i hear that................... big time. It's gotten to the point where I'll just leave if everything is out of wack with the system, as it bugs me too much to enjoy it.
