Good Producer Packs?
Mostly interested in makin hiphop beats, so I was wonderin if you guys knew any good CDs/DVDs you know of, or ordered off the net etc producer packs, sample kits.. that kinda shit
I got this sample kit from Dre,Alchemist,Premier,Dblock,Timbaland etc etc .. its fuckin killer. All the beats I've been makin lately are comin out of that.. Also if you know good ones for house that'd be cool too. |

i know ^^ ahah but theres lots of good shit in there .. i mostly used it for all the kicks hats and snares in there. i had to narrow it down to like 500 or so things i could use
that's why I'm tryin to find some good DVDs or whatnot evil duer - meh. I'd rather just have a huge library of shit that sounds good. then i can rip out/layer guitar and piano and stuff from classical songs and what not |

This one is phat! Vinylistics 3 never leaves my harddrive. It's increadbly versatile and complete.

i looked vinylistic up on google.. is it more like loops rather than samples ? i don't like workin with loops as much, i like creatin my own sounds.. idealy i want a sample pack with ex) bass guitar, single samples goin thru all the chords etc , same with a sax and stuff. then single samples of synths and sounds .. wish i could just get a pack that has a full range of notes and chords for various sampled REAL instruments.
i already have all the drum pieces i need .. hmm |

Try Limewire; you have to get picky because there's alot of crap, but I've nabbed a few choice sample sets from there.
I don't think you have to stay away from packaged sample sets. Yes, it is better to make your own, but until you know what you're doing I don't see why you can't get started with some pre-made samples. Twist em, grunge them up, cut them, compress the shit out of them, make them your own. I have more respect for people creating loops from single hit sample packs then the old "patch a few tempo matched, common sounding, dinky loops together" |

not that i'd discourage anyone from trying to synthesize good sounds from scratch... but i don't think it's the be-all-end-all of originality. Some of us are more interested in writing music than synthesizing sounds - i don't believe using pre-made kits inherently makes your end product less original. Besides... do you really think you can create a drum sound that's completely distinct from anything used previously & still sounds good? |
