shit from the mid 90's? WTF?

I guess everyone has a right to their opinions, but i personally think you need to listen to some more dnb, and do a little more research into the timeline of it.

Some of the most classic dnb was produced and rinsed during the mid ninties.

ed rush and optical: wormhole lp (97')
omni trio: music for next millenium lp / the deepest cut lp(95')
dom and roland: industry lp (98')
john b: drum and bass visions cd (97')
dj ss !! : breakbeat pressure ep 1+2 (92') / the psycho ep (91')
ray kieth: EVERYTHING!! (sorry im biased)
panacea: low profile darkness (97')
goldie: do i even need to list 'em? when 'inner city life came' out in (94') it was all over, i was owned! Not to mention 'timeless' cd in (94') and 'Rings of Saturn' in (95')
photek: i personally believe photek owned late 97/98 with 'modus operandi,' 'form and fucntion' 'nin ten ich ryu'(sp?) leading up to solaris in 2000, which i admitedlly never go into really

theres tons more i can list, im sure dabs, or a few other cats can do the mid-to late ninties far more justice then i have.

as for buying package deals at HMV!? bah! I shopped there for a period of time, but id say the dnb selection was part and parcel to carlos(c_squared) getting in on the ordering for the metrotown shop.

hmmm how exactly is pointing out that some of the best dnb was being produced and rinsed in the mid to late ninties hypocritical? And what exactly does "outdated" refer to? Its old thus it sucks? Its old, so we should stop listening to it? Its old and thus has no validity or value?

I dont remember slagging you, or even your opinions, and i gave you some examples of stuff you might want to check out - so whats with the name calling? And whats with the predjudiced homophobic language?

yes but stuff from the 90s isn't shit in the dnb realm. that was like, dnb's teenage years. a little rebellious, and a lot of lessons learned!

Your mom.

HMV doesn't have a good selection of dnb...unless you go to the one on Burrard. At all the other locations I've gone to "ELECTRONICA" isn't even a genre and they stock stuff from way back...and it's not even CLASSIC stuff by any standard: no ed rush/optikal, ray keith or goldie material. In those stores, they stock the garbage that nobody EVER buys.

Says who? You? Thats cool, but if your trying to tell me this is a popular opinion i say your incorrect.

A large contingent of quality djs/producers who have come up since 2000 still quote early dnb artists and music alike as still being extremely influential. Listen to any fairly new artist and the influences come out in the music.

Disagree? Give me some examples.

"isnt shit in the dnb realm" What the fuck is this? What does it mean? You sound like an idiot. Isnt shit? like it isnt as qaulity? the prodcution isnt as tight? Not enough double and triple drops for you? What? What exactly about older dnb "isnt shit" nowadays?

Acts such as evol intent, noisia, friction, commix, high contrast, counterstrike etc etc all have been inspired, influenced and motivated by the music coming out in the ninties. The fact that many artists stating this, is a testament to what was going on in that era.

Now, dont get me wrong, im not trying to sold like the old fart, holding onto the "golden years" But i think your comparisons are either a) you havent listened to enough music, b) your focussing on more current dubs c) youve been caught up in the hype and subsequent disposibility of some music.

Either way, i dont believe your opinion to me any more than that, YOUR opinion

my mom? My mom what?

Your backpeddling-first you were arguing in terms of dnb in the ninties somehow being "shit" and now your talking about hmv's selection? Didnt we already established that hmv's selection sucks? I know it does, i mentioned already that the only reason i found some jems in the metro store was because a head, just happened to be the dude doing the ordering.

SO, lets go back to

main point? Kid you havent even made a peripheral one! So music in the ninties is automatically thought of as outdated? What does outdates imply to you?
