TOOL - 10 000 Days

one could only hope Maynard's pussified A Perfect Circle influence doesn't affect what has potential to be the best album of 2006. However, I'm curious to see what Maynard will push out, considering the drastic change in their sound as the years go by. Opiate and Undertow were more conventional rock albums, and very pushy. Aenima was much more progressive than the last two, and Salival and Lateralus edged towards the psychedelic. Should be a worthwhile listen, no matter what direction they go unless, of course, they do pussy it up a notch.

^WORD UP!!!!
Far too many people have forgotten the childlike excitement of cracking open an album for the first time and just sitting there and listening to it from start to finish! In the day and age of digital downloading too many people have started to view music as expendable....take the time to REALLY enjoy it.... especially this one! :) |

Maynard said this albulm is more cynical and angst filled because of the current world situation. So you can expect this albulm to kick ass. They also said they've been listening to a lot of meshugga lately. I'm definately buying this one the day it's released.

If I ever run into Maynard by chance, I'm going to shake his hand, thank him for the excellent music, and give him $20. Hell, if someone can give me a (proveable) PayPal address, I'll send him $20 right now for the albums I've previously stolen. The current corrupt top-heavy dinosaur that is the music industry isn't going to go away until we all stop subscribing to it. I'm not giving any more money to any major labels, period - I've actually already emailed a few semi-major artists already offering to send them $20 for stealing their albums, which i really, really liked. Two of them responded to my emails, and both times the response was a flattered "wow, you're the first person to ever offer that, glad you liked the music that much! consider it paid for!". $20 for a CD, to the artist, is over 100 times what they receive from the label in royalties for a single CD sale. If every major artist had a paypal address and a website with free downloads, and everyone who liked the music sent them a few bucks for it, they'd make *way* more money than they do on their major labels. Before you call me a bastard for it, go read this: http://www.langston.com/Fun_People/2000/2000ADY.html Sorry for thread-jacking. I'm so down with new Tool. Can't wait! :D |

For the amount of knowledge/artistry they put into their work, anyone not buying this album isn't a true fan. I just wish more people that gave this kind of respect to such an awsome band would also be as interested in their lyrical genious not just their technical merrit. I wonder how many self proclaimed fans even understand such masterpieces as "Third Eye" for instance. They write songs in spiral form, like Sufis doing a chant, it just keeps building off itself, such a brilliant band.

Out of curiousity, what kind of music do you listen to that you could consider calm, relaxing, or just taking it down a notch? |

I just see APC as Maynard holding back his potential just to be chill. The man obviously is a genious, and undoubtedly has the capacity to write much better calm music. Maybe I'm being too harsh? meh. Last edited by tiedye; Apr 10, 06 at 04:06 AM. |
