Dj Wannabeez
***** Donations for the DJ WANNABEEZ Project may be dropped off at BEAT STREET or BOOMTOWN RECORDS. *****
Old Friends, Over the past month or so I've connected with an extremely worthwhile musical project. Based out of Kyah Wiget (AKA Moricetown on BC's infamous Highway 16) the DJ WANNABEEZ Project is bringing DJing and breakdancing to at-risk youth across the Wet'suwet'en nation. Founded by youth worker Elgin Cutler and consisting of little more than 4 eager young souls under his guidance, the DJ WANNABEEZ are working their asses off to get some DJ gear together. To help them get started, POUND will be donating the workhorse of our operation these past 7 years - the Vestax PMC 50a. This mixing board, with its four channels, 3 microphone inputs and hip-hop fader configuration should give the boys plenty to keep themselves busy. In addition to the mixer, I will be sending the guys a crate of my old hip hop records. Our plan is to help the WANNABEEZ get off the ground by collecting as much vinyl as possible (of any genre) along with any other gear we can find. We've offered to ship them as much of a "DJ Starter Kit" as we can put together. If any of you would like to donate some vinyl or gear (headphones, mics, needles, decks, cash???) for this worthwhile cause - even if it's just one or two records of any genre, please hit me back so we can make arrangements to connect. You may also drop by Beat Street or Boomtown to make a donation. Absolutley! Thanks so much. I think I'm going to make arrangements with a couple of the record stores so we can have a central collection point for stuff. If that doesn't work for you I can come meet you sometime too. Judging by the response so far, I'm going to log a tonne of miles gathering gear so hopefully I can get the stores onside. |
