"Smashing" good news

I've heard rumours for the past few months, but I read today that it's official. The Smashing Pumpkins are reuniting. Whether James Iha will rejoin or not is still in question, I'm stoked to hear their drummer is coming back. Too bad though, Iha was a great guitarist. . . kind of crucial to the sound, I think. But if the rest of the band joins, I'm sure it'll be stellar. D'Arcy Wretzky may not be playing bass for them either, but she's easily replaceable.

They are already in the studio, and I'm stoked! Best news of the year yet.

I totally agree im stoked too!
but the only thing is im worryed that there going to change there sound too much i hope they dont cause there old stuff is stellar, but then sometimes change is good sometimes not, i guess we'll have to see :)

Ummm..... if a Smashing Pumpkins 'reunion' includes only Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlain then how is it any different from Billy's 2001 rock powerhouse (yes... that was sarcasm) ZWAN?

At the very least if Iha doesn't come back I'll hold off my enthusiasm until I hear something new....

I agree, as much as i love the pumpkins it isn't really a comeback without James Iha or D'arcy. Of course Jimmy Chamberlain is going to agree to come back, he follows Billy everywhere....Zwan and also he did a track on Billy Corgan's solo project.

If they get James Iha and D'Arcy or at least that Melissa whatever her name was then i'll shut up and be happy.

Pumpkins reuniting =/= good news.

Pumpkins letting bygones be bygones and giving up on trying to recapture the magic of the early 90s = good news
