funky/french first and always, been playing electro for a few years now before it became so popular. But with its popularity comes a whole new side of house which will influence the kinds that will follow it. I like how the genre is so diverse which is what drew me to it in the first place.

A genre does not have to be new to be a fad, i don't see anywhere in this thread that says electro is a new genre if it does say that please point it out.

my favorite houses:
electro
- dunno why but i'm just loving this stuff a lot. it's starting to tame down but for now i'm still enjoying it.
disco/funky
- my first great love of house and still party rocking. highly recommend defected label and anything involving some fat black chick singing.
deep/groovin
- nothing quite so classy as deep house in any setting. this music is fun, sexy and does nothing but put smiles on faces.

there are countless others. house music's been around for well over two decades now and it's constantly changing and reinventing.

electro is a fad now because it generally disappeared for about 10 years until around 2000. now it's been latched on to house and created a new definition of the word electro, because it's very different than what it was when bambaataa was around. so the whole thing about electro hitting Next Big Thing status amidst the house crowd is being referred to as a fad. which it may well be. that's not to say electro won't continue to have a major influence on dance music. saying that is like saying funk no longer does.

Isn't that what happened with trance 5 years ago? Isn't that what happened with rave music before that? And acid/chicago house before that.... and electro before that.....

I suspect acid house to make a big splash in the coming years. namely, this stuff I like to call "Rebirth House" that basically just involves a drumkit and a 303 and possibly lyrics. Think Tiga (Pleasure From The Bass, Louder Than A Bomb).

Electro will probably be back again in 10-15 years, so it's really a matter if you're still keeping yourself up with the whole music scene at the time.
