What are your favourite songs to dance to at bars/clubs?
Looks like I scored a second job as a DJ at one of the local bars. Just gotta go in on Friday and meet the guy in person to know fo sho, but in the meantime I'm trying to figure out what top 40-ish stuff people actually like to dance to - I have to start keeping up with today's pop culture. He said it's cool if I throw in whatever I want as long as people can dance to it, so some killer breaks and funky house are in order. . but I have no idea what's popular these days.

nice. top 40 or not. thatd be a pimped job.
heres some artists I like to hear at the watering hole. I dont dance at bars tho, i shoot pool so... George Thorougood (sp?) one bourbon one scotch one beer type shit AC DC ZZ Top Led Zeppelin Black Crowes Aerosmith "Boy Named Sue" by Johnny Cash, most classic country songs suit the bill. Patsy Cline tunes own bars as well. "Crazy" Michael Jackson get some Old Blues too to throw in like Howling Wolf and Buddy Guy. Muddy Waters n shit. depends on yer crowd tho. like the shit i just listed would probly go better with an older crowd. For kids i guess you gotta score some pop hip hop and r+b. I cant help you out there bro, ha ha ha Last edited by -evil-duerr-; May 29, 06 at 12:16 PM. |

After talking to the dude today about what music I can play, I'm not too worried about all of this top 40 nonsense. He said early in the night it's an older crowd (30-40ish) so country and classic rock goes over well. Then later in the night it tends to be more hip-hopish and some new age rock goes over well. For the last two or three hours people are so drunk, they're just looking for a good beat so he said I can play a lot more electronica as long as it's not trance (I like this guy already), but it's cool to drop in some throughout the night as well. I'm going to try to stick to 90s hip hop (lots of Beastie Boys), avoid the country since I can easily make up for it with killer classic rock, and drop in lots of breaks and funky house. |
