Zack de la Rocha
Because he tells it like it is. He feels the need to make a difference. He has artistic integrity - proof being the fact that he split from his amazing band because he was unwilling to compromise his need to present his ideas fully. Because he walks the walk. Because he changed my outlook on the world. Because he is amazing. |

There are tons however David Bowie is a standout -
Just because he really did set the precedent for so much of the rock music that was later established after the height of his career. He also incorporated theatrics into his performances and was one of the icons of the glam rock era. I love what he did with his music and where he took it - I also think he's a great song writer. <3 David Bowie I wrote a paper on music for my english 100 class a few years ago and made several references to him. |

I don't really have an artist I respect the most (there are so many.)
But DJ Qbert (among other Bay Area DJs) provided me with a Filipino-American cultural icon I could look up to. How many famous Filipino people do you know of (besides Lapu Lapu, the guy who gutted Magellan a few hundred years ago)? DJ Qbert stayed true to his roots and helped to show the world the versatility of the wheels of steel. He helped bring the art of turntablism to a whole new level, and in the process built up legendary hip-hop crews. |

saying that there are many other people who are artists first and foremost, that i have a great deal of respect for. People who dont sell out, or change for other people. |

Audrey Hepburn
She was an amazing actress, helped to keep people smiling during the war even though most of the time she was ill, and then after her career was over in movies, helped UNICEF and the UN for one dollar per annum (becuase they have to give you something) and helped the epidemics that plague Africa. She was over in Africa when she was diagnosed with cancer and only came home when she was unable to walk. I think she is a role model and a very courageous woman and it's s shame that most celebrities these days can't take away her humble attitude. Life is precious and she understood that fully Last edited by thechix0r; Jul 14, 06 at 09:22 AM. |

Neil Young is my idol for many reasons. But I actually have to say Les Claypool is the artist I respect the most, just because he is on the go all the time. He never ceases to try to make better music, and he actually (sort of) left Primus because he felt he was being hindered creatively. Now he has a handful of projects on the go, my favourite being Oysterhead. He got me into playing the bass and even though I haven't played in over a year since mine got jacked, I still love the instrument. To sum it up, he instilled a sense of determination to never fall into the norm and always grow musically. |
