I'm a fan too.. I'm a sucker for tribal tech and minimal tech has been growing on me over the past few months. But techno in itself is a unique genre I wouldn't mind getting more into.

there's a small but excellent techno scene in Van. come to the Lotus Long Weekend this Sunday, there's techno all night up in Lick.

Techno clubnights in Vancouver are notoriously thin clientelle. Though the Lick room for Lotus Long Weekend is oft packed. Check it out on Sunday for Labour Day...

The real techno crowd only ever comes out every once in a while for underground raves though. And those when they happen are intensely cool, but unfortunately rare.

PS: This is why minimal techno is so accepted as party music, not because the tracks themselves are catchy and good dancing tunes, but because DJs can layer 4 records at once and make a completely different sound out of it. while each and every track may not accomplish much on its own, layering 3 tracks can create insanely bumping tunes.

While not from Vancouver, that video is of Jeff Milligan who is from ontario and is obviously a pretty kick ass dj. As for closer to home you have Mat Jonson who is awesome. He has played along side Hawtin and has played at Cocoon with Vath in Ibiza. As a matter of fact I think he is playing a party with Vath and Villalobos in the next week in Frankfurt.

im currently working on 1X3 on techno with 2 mixers. God hates the person who invented cross faders.
