That's what happens when you have Diane Watts in charge, she's a great mayor as long as it doesn't require her to look at anything negative.

It goes far beyond the governing of municipalities.

It starts in the house of commons. Mayors can only work with what theyre given,not for profit societys can only work with what theyre given.

If the budget is not there,no one will reap the benefits of much needed services. It has SFA to do with wether or not a mayor is willing to acknowledge if there is a drug problem or not in his/her municipality. To my knowledge the mayor has little say in how funds are to be spread out that is passed down from the federal government. Even provincial government is to determine where,when and how much and for whom the funds will be dispursed.

i think you kind of answer your own question; a 24 hour anything atratces (whoa, fuck i can't spell :wacko:) bums and riff raft. cleaning up the newton area is a huge task, and certainly not one the well be solved by a simply new strip mall

basicly a community is made up of people who can afford it and a place like newton is pretty low rent, there for bring in people with low incomes... and well you know how that goes ... really though you know.... no offence to thoughs who live there although i'm sure you can't disagree

We're all aware theres a drug problem in Surrey, walk around in downtown Newton and Whalley and it smacks you in the face. I'm literally stepping over cracked out people to get to future shop at Central City.

But the new mall in place of a night club and strip joint certainly isn't going to do any harm to the area...

The good news is, that SD is 24 hours, and is four miles from the first 24 hour location in evergreen mall, 152 st and fraser hwy, which is six miles from the one in Walnut Grove.

So that means I am within 30 minutes by bus of a 24 hour location.
