Westcoast Transit Expansion Plan
I heard on the news today that Gordon Campbell and the Translink troop have announced their mass transit expansion that will cost an estimated $13.8 BILLION dollars.
The concept is to lower greenhouse gas emissions, incorporating rapid bus lines, expanding skytrain routes, expansion of skytrains from 4 to 6 thus possibly remodelling the existing stations, more green friendly buses, etc. What are you thoughts? Does this effect our tax dollars? And as I recall, aren't we currently "over" budget by $110 million already for the 2010 Olympics? Source Global TV source |

It's a ruse. They're drawing attention away from the fact that we're over the Olympic budget by spending MORE money that we will perceive to be voluntary and in our favour. It's like a magician's trick when they distract you with something seemingly normal so you don't see what they're really doing. I'm only theorizing here though.
That being said, green-friendly public transit is never a bad thing. |
