These two are a permanent fixtures in the Vancouver Breakbeat scene and collectively have been DJ’ing for over 18 years – Precise’s roots are as a Hip-Hop turntablist having won numerous local competitions such as: DJ Soundwars, placing runner up in the DMC’s and ITF DJ battles in the years 97 through 99, and he was invited to compete in the nationals as well. Kraig loves all things funky and has been dropping sets of Breaks, soul/funk and vocal House music fused with live percussion all around Vancity at hundreds of clubs and parties.

Expect a set of some “Big Sexy Funk” with party rockin Funk and Electro Breaks fused with some old skool Hip Hop and turntablism.

Garnering universal respect from peers is not common for DJs-come-producers. U-Tern somehow managed it, and a reputation is steadily building for this humble Vancouverite. Spreading his obvious infatuation for all things music through his blog and weekly radio show, U-Tern is one of those individuals whose passion and drive are enviable. All that is secondary though: immaculate, charming disco-funk tracks are the standout here. U-Tern’s use of real instruments and his exceptional production chops translate into truly authentic pieces of music striking that balance between nostalgia and the 21st century.

Niña Mendoza (NEEN-ya) is a Vancouver based music enthusiast/ DJ. She is armed with eclectic and discerning taste; an extensive rare-groove, 80’s funk, R&B classics, electro-boogie music library; and a magnetic je ne sais quoi.

As a wee lass, she gravitated to artists such as Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Madonna, The Police, Wham!, amongst many other Pop and New Wave artists that continue to have a rotation in her library today. She is known for her strong connection to music and demonstrates this through her passionate DJ sets. She takes special interest in all genres rooted in Soul and Funk, the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s eras in black music and pop, has a soft spot for locally based artists, and gets exited about old songs that are beyond their time and new songs that sound old.
