A Twisted night in the Fraser Valley?

So I have a question for those here in F&K...

What are your thoughts on Twisted doing a club night out in the Fraser Valley - by Fraser Valley I mean either Delta, Surrey or Langley. I have some stuff in the works that I am looking at... Basically it would be on a Friday night and be a House and Breaks night I am thinking.

To those especially that live in that area, how do you think that would be received? -- Would you go to a House/Breaks night out in the Fraser Valley on a Friday night?

I look forward to hearing your comments! -- Those that reply that live out that area, let me know where so I can note that.

Peace.

DELTA!!! :D or even Surrey is close
I'd so be down for that. Getting downtown is really hard for us that live out here, we need something closer to home.

Hey Miskaness... I forgot that you live out in Delta. How would it be received though? I know that you would go but what about your friends or people that you know that go to clubs. Do you think that area is in need of a House/Breaks night?

We've never really had any electronic type nights out here that I know of or have been to, thats why I always have to venture out of this area; everthing seems to be top 40 and hip hop. Most of my friends who are of legal age that live out here just go to bars, but I'm sure thats because there are no other options. Mind you, none of the people that I'm friends with here even know what house and breaks are.. anything with a repetative beat they just refer to as techno or "rave music". Damn valley hicks. LOL

Hmmmm... interesting. I look forward to reading more responses because for us to do a night out there would be a lot of work but something I know isn't happening - just as you pointed out Miskaness.

I am just curious to know how well it would be received.

That would pretty much ensure no one from the downtown/vancouver area would attend (ie. me =P), but as long as you're okay with only marketing after a suburban crowd I think its a good idea.

Hey Kraig,

I'm living in Langley right now. I would personally LOVE an electronic music night out here, and so would a few of my friends. As to how it would be received over all, I really am not sure! Also, not sure where in Langley would be the best place to throw it. Maybe china beach or some thing.

A lot of people out here seem to be more in the hiphop/top40 scene. but maybe thats just because thats all thats offered. it's hard to say, i say try it out though!

surrey had a pretty recent failed breaks & jungle night over the summer @ the ozone.

the ozone used to run a second room done with 'electronic music' that cost 2 extra bucks to get into. it had a loyal following for about i year or so, i dunno, im from north van i only went once.

sorry to burst your bubble, but there's no way you'd get a dj higher up than a 'well respected local' to play a suburban night. not only is it a bitch for anyone who doesn't live nearby to go, clubs are too small to hold enough capacity to break even.

the best you would get would be, if you're lucky, maybe chezch. and the promoters would most likely lose money on that.

since breaks nights aren't exactly bursting at the seams in capacity downtown, the night would probably have to be more house, and it would be more of a novelty than an actual serious night bringing in outside talent.

on a completely different note... what happened to twisted fridays at #7? it seemed to be doing pretty well.

Hey werdy... thanks for those comments... definitely the kind of things that are running through my mind at doing this.

Really the night would not be used to make profit nor would it be a medium to pull in headliners - The Fraser Valley is just not the place/venue to do that in. The purpose of the night would be for several reasons but mainly to perhaps bring an element of what we have in the luxury of downtown out to the Fraser Valley... After all, a ton of people do come to our parties from all over that area.

You are right that Twisted Friday's @ 7 Alexander was doing well but the club switched ownership and when that happened, The Beat 94.5 made an offer to the new owners to buy Friday night which was something they couldn't refuse and for that matter, we couldn't blame them!

Thanks for the feedback all.

It would be wonderful for Langley to have a night like that. I would go and I know a bunch of other people who would go for sure. We need something like that out here! There used to be a night at City Limits in Abbotsford, but that died down after a few years. The second room at Ozone was GREAT, and I'm not too sure why they ended it, but it's well missed. Langley would be an awesome place for that breaks/house nite. Surrey would be okay as well. (Psst. Look into Langley!)
