Final Freaknight Lineup!

Seven years have passed… and they have waited… quietly… for the one night of every year that they are released upon the world to dance with the devil…

This year… they dance… at

FREAK7NIGHT

FRIDAY OCTOBER 31st, 2003 – SEATTLE, WA

THIS YEAR’S EVENT WILL BE HELD ON

“HALLOWEEN NIGHT”!

United State of Consciousness is proud to announce that the Northwest’s annual Halloween ritual is back for a seventh year of beats and beasts, and who better to make you groove with the goblins than the one and only…

PAUL VAN DYK

“Reflections” LP Release Tour - Vandit / Mute Records - Berlin, Germany

Exclusive Northwest Appearance!Second ALL AGES Event EVER In Seattle!!

As with any genre of music, there are those who perform it, those who create it and those who define it. Some do it all. For his fourth and latest artist album, REFLECTIONS, coming out on Mute Records October 7, PAUL VAN DYK takes a quantum leap, landing firmly in another realm of electronic music where no other artist has been.

With Reflections, PAUL VAN DYK has fully emerged as an all-encompassing songwriter--a musical (and humanitarian) visionary who transcends genres. Maintaining that it is not just about electronic music for him, he concludes, “It’s about music in general that I love as long as it is honest and intense. Obviously, my first love and respect of music is electronic music because that is what keeps me going and drives everything in a very special way--no other kind of music can. But obviously there are so many very, very important elements of other musical genres that can lift the spirit of electronic music. I don’t like rules and as long as you make some sort of music that means something, then its fine--break all the rules!”

Also performing at this year's FREAKNIGHT...

MISTRESS BARBARA

First Seattle Appearance In Over A Year! - www.inturnem.com - Montreal

"Drummy funky techno" is how Misstress Barbara describes her musical style. Misstress Barbara – and yes that is with four "s’" – is dedicated to the hard-edge House and Hard Techno which is based in part to her early taste for hard music. Originally born in Sicily, Italy, by the time she was eight Barbara called Montreal, Quebec home and where she has been ever since. Picking up some drumsticks and sitting behind a kit at 12 was her real first-hand exposure to the power music would have over her life. As she grew up in the fabulous eighties, Barbara quickly felt a connection with the hard banging styles of Classic Rock and Punk, which was the foundation of her Techno style, that has been her trademark since 1994.

By 1995, Barbara had traded in her drum kit, picked up some turntables and a mixer to hone her edgy style. In 1996 she got her first paid gig and hasn’t looked back. Taking a few years to build a following throughout Canada, she quickly built quite a reputation of being a kick-ass DJ. After proving her talents across the Mid-West, Barbara took a gig in the UK, which brought her to the immediate attention of industry veteran and luminary Carl Cox. With such a brief time behind the decks Barbara’s talents rapidly expanded and she was in demand all over the world, in such eclectic outlets as Asia, Europe and South America. Barbara aims high – with the intentions of running her label, producing tracks for film and video games, touring and producing killer tracks, her future success appears to be all within reach.

DONALD GLAUDE

MIXED LIVE 2: Live from Turnmills available on Moonshine - www.djdonaldglaude.com - Seattle

The last few years have been very busy for veteran DJ Donald Glaude. Donald's in-demand, crowd-rocking style has given him the oportunity to travel abroad to such places as Russia, Colombia, Hong Kong, Peru, Mexico City, Venezuela, Acapulco, The U.K.., and The Pimp N Ho Ball, just to name a few! Donald has been a club favorite and one of the most in demand artists in the country for over 17 years. He is one of those rare DJs who perceives their role to be that of an all-around entertainer and performer. Each night, his arsenal of track after funky track, seems to be endless. There are only a handfull of DJs that "must be experienced live." Donald, dubbed "The James Brown of DJs" by Dave Aude, with his dynamic, animated and energized personality definitely, is one of these select few.

JERRY BONHAM

Version 1 CD Release Tour – SAW Recordings | Renaissance | Bedrock | Inversus - San Francisco

Jerry Bonham is one of America's and the world's foremost progressive DJ's. As co-owner of San Francisco's Spundae Reckords store and resident at clubs Nikita and Spundae, he lives the music as passionately as he plays it.

Jerry is a DJ's DJ. Dave Ralph calls him "the most underrated DJ in America; "He has a real talent and depth". Yet, despite all the touring and demands of his record store, Jerry has amassed a string of highly regarded production credits. Highlights include remixing Expansion's "Listen" for the Texas based Funked-Up label, as well as recording "Deep Love 9" with Bedrock favorites Jondi and Spesh for Renaissance U.K. His next single is "Erendira" (Spanish for "joy"), recorded with Planetary Consciousness, out early 2001 on the Spundae label. In 1998, Jerry released his first mix CD "Interpretations" on Spundae Recordings. In 1999, Jerry mixed "Tranceglobalnation 3" for Arcade America.

It takes a DJ who's been around for two decades to know, but Jerry's career has proven he's in it for the long haul.

Good Looking Organization Presents:

PROGRESSION SESSIONS 8 TOUR

Featuring...

LTJ BUKEM & MAKOTO w/ MC DEEIZM

Good Looking Organization - United Kingdom/Japan

Just who is LTJ Bukem? Ground breaking DJ? Inspirational musician? Record label entrepreneur? Club visionary, perhaps? When the man behind those wire rimmed glasses and that disarming smile writes his job description just what does he put? The man who took the drum and bass concept from a small venue off London's Charing Cross Road to the nation's super clubs and then onto the international stage? The geezer whose records launched break beat into a brand new galaxy of sound? Or maybe he just writes 'Renaissance man for a digital age'. In truth LTJ Bukem is all of the above. Although he wouldn't like to admit it, LTJ Bukem is the living embodiment of the post-acid house entrepreneurial creative spirit. He is a mild mannered energy flash whose panoramic musical vision has found success in every area he has explored. From running sound systems to cutting up breaks at raves, from relocating the heart of break beat culture to redefining the spirit of drum and bass, the man known to his friends as Danny Williamson has sat at the forefront of break beat evolution, lighting the way with little more than a zest for life and a love of music. In other words, LTJ Bukem is a man on a mission!

Born in Tokyo in 1977 Makoto’s musical interests started in Kindergarten with Beethoven. Classical music totally consumed him until Junior high school, when he heard Ryuichi Sakamoto’s Soundtracks for Last Emperor and The Sheltering Sky. Following that he moved on to jazz, rare groove and soul. Makoto has a large repertoire of musical influences. He cited Leroy Hutson and Marvin Gaye, along with Curtis Mayfield and Lonny Liston Smith – all major 70’s players as well as Blue Note Producer Larry Mizell. Makoto then entered Nippon University where he met with Drum & Bass and during this time of his life he was organizing events and DJ’ing in Tokyo clubs.

Makoto is currently proving himself to be one of the more diverse and promising unknown elements in Good Looking's musical repertoire. Two funk filled tracks appeared on the Earth 4 compilation in the shape of "Extensions of Life" and "Peace of Mind", with "You're Divine" appearing on Earth 5 and getting an exclusive release in Japan. On the Drum'n'Bass front the Progression Sessions series continues to feature many of his tracks, including all 4 of the tracks that are forthcoming on his soon-to-be-massive Musical Message EP. It seems that no matter what type of set Bukem plays - Drum'n'Bass, Down tempo or House – you’re sure to find a Dubplate with Makoto's name on it.

Shelley aka Deeizm is a talented up and coming vocalist whose talent extends much further than simply vocalisation. Along with being able to sing, rap and perform, she is also able to play the drums and has DJ’ed for 6 years, keeping it on the sideline although it is one of her best assets. Shelley’s upbringing was influenced musically by her dad’s motown/soul DJ’ing, allowing her to always be surrounded by a great sound system.

After six years in the music industry, Shelley finally has her own studio and is signed exclusively to the Good Looking Organisation, MC’ing for Makoto as well as guest DJ’s at Progression Sessions. Not only is she the first female signed to the label, but she is also covering all the areas, including vocalising, producing, DJ’ing and MC’ing. Her style is very influenced by the combination of future jazz and funk that can be found in drum and bass. Shelley believes music can and does relate to every emotion, which is why she understands the importance of versatility within her music. She has a style for every occasion; soulful, sweet, melodic as well as dark rhymes with an edge.

Lineup looks sick.. But I gotta question..Why dont you ever book some Vancouver Djs? There lots of good ones up here and Im sure youll get a lot more peeps going down there if they see one of their very own locals playing at a big show... Just a thought.

But, best of luck with the show! Looks killer!

We wanted to book some Van DJ's for this show, but we only had so many slots available on the lineup. We did have Czech down for USC7, and have discovered quite a few talented Canadians in our stack of demos :) Expect more 604's to be representing at USC shows in the future!

you really don' t know much do you.

PVD, Donald Glaude, LTJ Bukem, Naha, Dig Dug, lil Mz Booty and Mistress Barbara, all top notch talent.

Hell I'd rather go see Naha play than any of the talent at spooky, you really should learn somethings before you start yipping.

Kamal... I don't know about Freaknight licking hair balls - I am sure the show will do just fine.

Props on PvD for the show... it looks good.

Spooky is a different style of show, with 4 rooms and headliners in every room from all around the world including the US, UK and Eastern Canada. Music tastes (that cater to the massives) are different here than in Seattle.

We also must remember that in a second, Swing Kids and Twisted would host a beer garden or a 19+ drinking area however the by-laws of our cities here do not allow that... Seattle's does.
