and do your calculations again. Are you sure you subtracted the "assholes like yourself" part? If promoters had constant fans, and supporters, then the prices would go down dramatically. the problem is that there are no guarantees in this city. so they charge more than usual to be make sure that they ATLEAST cover their costs. and man, sometimes they don't even get that much! you're clueless. |

There are no guarantees that parties always sell out. if they do then thats the bonus the promoter gets for risking 30,000+ for a party. Theres always something that happens where the party wont' sell out like it should. Innersould is a very good example. 3 well known headliners with vancouvers finest locals and for a cheap price. What was the reason behind it not selling out? I'll tell yah what it was. Security was the reason. So i do advise all of you who are bitching bout prices to really get your heads out of your asses cause you all should think before you type. |

I don't get it if the parties cost to much then don't go. Its really that simple. Most people come into this thread looking for info regarding whos going and what djs are playing so why make things more complicated than they're.
Next week another rave will come and guess what, its going to be the same as last week's. So save the drama for you mama and rave till you die. |

i know one thing, is that personally with even decent job i cannot seem to able to afford to go to parties to support the crew! no matter how much i would love to, unfortunetly life is extremly expensive these days, and the reason why its not guranteed for the party to sell out, is for peole like me, have huge responsibilities to take care of first, like bills and rent and food, etc...plus i have huge poor family that lives in another country, that hope for my support ones in a while... but also think, most of the crew that does go to party, are underage people that have nothing else better to do, rather then go to a rave, and bag their parents for money.. but again, not every parent is able to afford either, when they have a family to support, morgage, property tax.. etc now if the party was starting @ 30$ or 25$, not only it would help people like me to support those promoters, but also countless of people around lower mainland. i would jump on the ticket for that price, and not even think twice! and its not like promoters have to print 500 of them.. maybe even 50 would totally help those! and those 50 people are guranteed to bring another friend with them, which is already 100 people right there.. its not that hard to sell out a party where the capacity is 600 people. the question is - are those parties done for just fun and love of music? or to make ca$h money? one day, hopefully by 2010 closer to the olympics, we'll have many more venues that will become available, and owners of the venues we'll have to compete to get theirs rented out, which means cheaper venue prices are guranteed and hopefully the parties will be cheaper, before then i guess we're out of luck! |

I'm not even gonna argue much with you here, as your post is semi-valid. My previous posts were addressed to Jeff who was hating on these guys because the tickets are $35? That's straight up ignorant! oh and the next person I hear saying "are those parties done for just fun and love of music? or to make ca$h money?" I'm gonna shoot! OFCOURSE IT'S FOR THE MONEY. They don't throw parties cause they're in love with you. It's a fucking fulltime job, lots of risks, and trust me, if the payoff wasn't significant, barely anyone would be doing it. (and I don't give a fuck if you know people who knows people who do it "for the music". good for them!) The reality is, noone gives a fuck if you attend a party or not. support em if you like em, or sit back and shut the fuck up. If you can't go, there is no need to ruin it for the people who are looking forward to it. grow up! |
