Amsterdam's really nice, but i think i'd get bored being there 5 nights. I've been on several occasions for 2-3 days and those days have been plenty! (granted i don't smoke pot, haha...)

check out the Van Gogh Museum, and take one of those tours through the canals! also, the candy stores there rock. lots of little cafes open late, and everyone rides bikes :) it's quite the charming city. there's also the Red Light district, which i stumbled into by accident once... :/
have fun!

I was just there in Sept. I stayed for a week which was way too long. 5 days will be plenty. Check out the musieums and Anne Frank's house, which is pritty cool. Stay away from the wax musieum it is a waste of money, really short. The Red light district is cool but really sketchy, trust me go there with a few people u don't want to go alone at night, u will get jumped for sure, Just be smart, and smoke the hash cause that is the only good thing, the weed is better here. The mushrooms are realy good too but it might be really sketchy to take there, atleast that is what these Austrailian dudes told me so I stayed away.

Oh yeah if u can bring some BC bud seeds with you trust me the people at the coffie shops will hook u up. They love BC bud but can't get it........... have a good time.

Bored? Wtf...there are *so* many interesting things to see in Amsterdam...this city is full of beautiful art and museums, for me 4 days weren't enough!

Funny, I was pretty disappointed with the Van Gogh Museum.

I dislike his art...uhhh...the only picture I really liked is the Undergrowth...

Other than that I was really not impressed at all...not sure what's so special about his famous self-portrait and the Sunflower. He was a crazy bastard tho...Van Gogh cut off a part of his left ear, wrapped it in a newspaper and gave it to a prostitute, asking her to keep this object carefully...wtf!! o__O I wonder if it was an overdose of Absinthe or just his folly? Hahaha...oh well....

Yes, I second that.

We also did a "Grachten cruise" - it was about 75 mins and a fun experience...everyone who visits Amsterdam should do this. Totally!

Haven't tried the candy stores...
...erm, wait...is a spacecake a candy? heh, think no so...

But the bikes...hahaha WTF!!!

They are everywhere, till late in the night, it's like the most natural thing there that one would use a bike to get from point A to point B and not a tram, bus, or car...you really have to get used to it first. Some ride them like Hofmann on LSD, it's crazy!! I was already blown away when I saw the cyclist-locker (?) at the station. Well the place where they leave their bikes. It's biiig. And you really see bikes EVERYWHERE in this city...very special, I loved that...

Yup, it is!

Amsterdam totally has its own "flair" and "charme" - I'm not only referring to the legal (better: tolerated) weed...it's the mix of all the water-canals, the cyclists, the coffeeshops, the beautiful alleys, museums, art and above all the people...I have never been in a city that felt more alive to me than Amsterdam. You really feel how it's breathing, it's such a lively place...so many people on the streets, bikers, trams, cars, pedestrians, water taxis, boats...very special vibe!

Hehe, same here...The red-light district...it's biiiiig. The prostitutes are much less obtrusive than the ones in Hamburg but the district is a lot bigger. In Hamburg it's pretty much only 2 or 3 streets while in Amsterdam it's one big area...when you walk by they offer "suck'n'fuck" for 50 Euros...gives a guy a hard time to behave but I could resist...hah...

Yeah, the Anne Frank Huis...I had a hard time to hold back my tears there...no kidding, that poor girl...it's so strange to wander around in all the rooms where Anne used to hide...uhh. Of course it got renovated and is not exactly the same anymore but as far as I could judge it was still pretty authentic and for sure very impressive. I feared it would be a rip-off but I think they did it in quite a lovely way...there's a few video presentations, but no "information overflow" and there's lots of quotes of her diary...it left quite an impression on me. You also saw this picture of where the nazis did a razzia and it was just on the opposite of the street and still looks very similar...Anne could prolly saw all this from her window...crazy. The entrance to her room was hidden behind this bookshelf and the stairs are so steep that the upper part is not accessible for handicapped-people...that's sad but at least it shows that they try to keep it as authentic as possible. Yeah, I was impressed to see all this...

The most impressive museum I visited was the "Historic Museum of Amsterdam" - http://www.ahm.nl/ - it's really interesting and shows all the rise of the city in the 16th/17th century and its "downfall" in the 18th and early 19th century and the "comeback" afterwards...it shows all kind of stuff, paintings, models, archeological findings, photographs, things to play with...Amsterdam is a rather young city but it has an interesting history with all the sailors and wars and stuff and I learned lots about it at this place...loved it!!

We also visited Rijksmuseum - *click* - I was a bit stoned o.O but still clear enough in mind...we bought an audio-guide, that was fun - we got headphones and a ipod-like player and were there for more than 2 hours.

I liked Rembrandts and Vermeers art, they used the light/shadow effects in such clever ways...there's the famous Nightwatch and Vermeer's "Woman in blue reading a letter" - I'm not much into art but it was great to see them anyway...another awesome place to visit for sure!

However, do not go to the Heineken brewery..what can I say? It's crap and a sell-out...but you get 3 beers for 10 Euro, so I couldn't really complain...haha. There's a bunch of crappy multimedia stuff in it, some infos on how they brew their beer and that's it. In short: Waste of money...

Better visit the Begijnhof instead...
...no entrance fee and a lovely place to chill with your mates...

Loved it in Adam!

And now...here it is...Van Gogh's Undergrowth...

^ Excellent!

My Trip is going to be a whirlwind one.

Flying Company to London-Gatwick or Paris-CDG then Charter to Amsterdam for a couple Nights then Prague and Budapest to return back with Company.

Total Airfare for me to go to all of those places shouldn't be more than $400.
