Banksy pulled off an audacious stunt to produce what is believed to be his biggest work yet in central London.

The secretive graffiti artist managed to erect three storeys of scaffolding behind a security fence despite being watched by a CCTV camera.
Then, during darkness and hidden behind a sheet of polythene, he painted this comment on 'Big Brother' society.

Still wish i had nabbed that print before he became ridiculously famous. His works are protected by the cities in the UK now. You can even get banksy tourguides. I think the worst of it was when some guys put on a show, without banksy's approval, of work they ripped off of electrical boxes. They even went as far as to spray a fake stencil outside the gallery and say it was an original.

banksy's made it, but he's really helped to raise the profile of other aspiring artists creating in the same vein.. he hosts random one-off guerilla art expos at random locations all over london... "santa's ghetto" was a stunner a couple x-mases back, replete with drunken santa ushering in punters... brilliant. and where else can I pay £40,000 for a pixellated spaced invader mosaic?

I would say it was the internet and portable communications that did it. Before banksy there was blek the rat and so forth. It was a combination of all the publicity banksy's stunts got plus the flourishing of forums/blogs, not really his 'art' itself.
