Welcome to the public preview of the new Scratch LIVE plugin VIDEO-SL.

This version has all the functionality of the final release with the following limitations.

* Output is watermarked
* The output window will not go fullscreen

VIDEO-SL requires the Rane TTM 57SL mixer and will not run without it

To install the plugin.

VIDEO-SL requires Scratch LIVE 1.8 and Quicktime 7.3

Installers are provided with and without Quicktime bundled.

Download the installer required for your system below and install it.

Running VIDEO-SL

When you run Scratch LIVE with the TTM 57SL connected, you will see a 'video' button next to the 'hardware' button. Turning this on for the first time starts the plugin, pressing "demo" will allow you to run the plugin.

Video File Types (formats and codecs)

VIDEO-SL can play the following kinds of files:

* .mov
* .m4v
* .mp4
* .FLV

Codecs are the kind of info stored in your video files.

VIDEO-SL supports the following Video Codecs:

* MPEG-4
* H.264
* Motion JPEG
* DV ( DVCPro50, DVCPro, DV (all PAL and NTSC))

With the following Audio Codecs:

* PCM
* AAC
* MP3

Adding videos to your library

- Add them as you do with audio files

Playing videos

- If you want to load a video to Scratch LIVE and Video-SL at the same time drop onto the deck in Scratch LIVE, Scratch LIVE will load the audio while the plugin will load the video.

- If you are already playing a track in Scratch LIVE and want to load a video onto it drag a video from SSL onto one of the video screens. This will NOT load or change the audio playing but will replace the video being played.

- Dropping a Video file on the "set video track " button will link that video to the currently playing audio file so next time you load it VIDEO-SL will automatically load the video again. Clicking this button while you have audio and video loaded will also associate them.

TTM 57SL controls

When you are running VIDEO-SL group 5 on the TTM 57SL controls the plug-in, please refer to the legend on the plugin or the hardware panel in Scratch LIVE for mappings.

Effects

- Your list of effects is dependent on what your graphics card is capable of running.
- These act as a chain that is applied onto the video before the fader.
- If the effects slots are still greyed out then it has been deemed that the graphics card is not capable of applying effects.

now go download and tell me how cool it is, forcing me to drop $2k on a mixer that I don't really need...

I'm iffy on this whole technology (not Serato! I have it, and love it to pieces). But video mixing... is it REALLY necessary? Is being at a party or club that boring to people that they need to watch something on a video screen to be entertained?

I'm sure it's a cool novelty, but I don't think it's worth dropping 2 grand on.

^don't think its necessary, but definitely not taking anything away from the experience.

i believe that the people who will actually use this on a "day to day" basis will actually have something to provide on top of simply mixing. another thing i think video mixing does it allow your average person to visually see what is going on, who may not know what is happening otherwise.

but yes, it's a very cool novelty =).

btw - the 57sl alone is worth the 2k
