i don't like trusting people under the influence of anything. If people are telling me shit when they're drunk/high i usually just tell them to shuttup.

It's not what substance they do, it's what substance they have.

You could basically turn around and say that about anything/anyone, "Would you trust a drunkard?/ Would you trust a (insert racial slander here)?" etc. Base your trust on what you know about a person rather than what substance they put in themselves.

Simple is it not?

well said, leslie. often, however, it works out that the substance they're using takes the place of the substance they had as a person...

I couldn't have said it better myself.... my uncle was a heroin addict. he passed away about 5 years ago. He was the nicest, most honest person I knew. He had a problem, it didn't make him untrustworthy.

^^ I think that's different though.
My sister used to be into alot of drugs and alcohol and had MANY problems with them. But I still trusted her. She's my sister, a part of my family, my friend! Just like this guy was your uncle and you knew him. That makes a difference.

But I wouldn't trust some random crackhead on the street or anything. Then again, I wouldn't trust any random person on the street. Crackhead or not.

I think also, it's more you have to know what to trust them with. Some things you might have to be careful with, but that doesn't mean you don't trust them at all.

[edit]: my sis wasn't addicted to crack. I'm just referring to drugs in general. (and not just weed/alcohol)

A friend of mine 'just tried crack' and the last time I saw him his familiy put him through detox. Once you try crack your brain is permanently altered to crave it.

He 'just tried it' once and that progressed to once a month, to once a week, to once a day, to hourly and then to the point he never left home.

Lied to family and friends to get money to fund his habit and was super paranoid and delusional.

Now before you think he is an idiot, this is the same person that just got his Masters degree from university a few months earlier BEFORE he tried it and just landed a permanent job with the Canadian gov't and was sent to Quebec for language training.

So would I trust a crackhead? No.

When one puts an addication before family and friends you have your answer.

my cousin is a crack addict, hes a nice guy but you can't trust him. ill never trust a crackhead family or not, because if the drugs are stronger then someone's will they will beplenty of other things they have power over...like mc hammered said, addicts will lie to you steal from you, anything to support their addiction because basicly addicts are slaves to drugs.

plus i have a hard time trusting anyone that can't even trust or respect themselves

yea... that's cool... there are some cool strong people in those cases... where they know they aren't putting anyone in danger by what they're doing... and they can control their actions. definately very interesting to know.

Yes and no.

I know a lot of people who have really been down and out in Jib and drugs, even those closest to me (like my brother) and I think I had good reason not to trust them at that moment in time.

No matter who it is, I think that any kind of addiction or dependancy changes a person for the time being, but it doesn't mean that they can never return to being the same person they were before everything happened.
