$250 million for Beckham?!
Did anyone else see this yet? Supposedly Beckham signed a 5-year/$250 million contract to play for Los Angeles in the MLS. That's just insane. That is such a god-awful contract that it makes some of the crazy baseball and basketball contracts look tame by comparison. Beckham's not even that good, so I dunno what makes hit worth $50 million a year.

Regardless of whether or not Beckham will be a force in mls, that price tag is absolutely horse shit for an aged mediocre player.
Queen Beckingham is far passed his prime, it's one less albatross Real Madrid would have around their neck if they had signed him to the reported 2 year deal.

50 million a year. i heard they were trying to bring him over as early last year but couldn't decide on if they wanted to fork out that much money or not.
Still never th ought it would amount to 50 million a year for 5 years. that ridiculous and makes basketball and baseball salaries look normal. Besides the states already tried this once with Pele

they're saying it's the biggest sports deals ever.
he said he is doing it for the 'challenge'. i say bullshit. posh just wants to be in hollywood and i bet his sponsors (gilette, volkswagon, adidas and one other i have forgotton) obviously want him to sell more products in North America so they got him to come to LA. i may be wrong but money talks and bullshit walks right.

try and quess how many people all over north america are doing the same thing? out of those people how many have heard of the MLS before this deal? he's not making 50million a year cause he can play soccer.

hes actually getting 291 million, and hes building a 50 million dollar house just cause he doesnt have one in us, yet. and is he that good? ya..but not the best! but hes a crowd favourite...might bring some love from europe to the us...might.

i went to the exhibition game this summer between madrid and d.c at seattle. everytime beckham touched the ball, or went to take a corner the stadium erupted. it was only an exhibition game, but it was the most attended soccer game in nw history. he'll draw a crowd for sure, but who knows how long that'll last. freddy adu looked better then beckham that game. in fact all of dc's chances were coming from beckham's side. he was probably the 10th best player on the field that day. would've been 12th if zidane hadn't of retired, and ronaldo wasn't injured.
