June 2008 you must have a valid passport for any travel to the US.

just a little fyi for those that care... (since myles closed his other thread)
went to the states on sunday with just my citizenship card and drivers license and i got over just fine. no questions were asked regarding my passport what so ever. so like everyone has mentioned if you are travelling to the states by air, you need a passport. if travelling by land or sea, you dont..but be prepared to have one soon.
