So... I got hit by a car today....
today on my way to work I was crossing broadways and got hit by a jetta.. I was ok, but everyone made such a fuss about it.. the fire truck came, and police. and then they sent an ambulance.. it was all pretty freaky..
then I got to wait 5 hours in the hospital to be sent home with a wrap on my knee.. but I'm really lucky to be ok.. the car was going like 30km or something like that and I broke her windsheild.. but yeah.... I'm ok.. except for the high ass bruises I'm going to get.. I was lucky I didn't hurt my back or my neck or anything.. |

That's terrible....although sometimes I wish that I could get lightly 'bumped' by a car so that I could blackmail the driver instead of filing a lawsuit against them for dangerous driving or something to that nature.
I'm sorry, I am evil.......=) But I hope you get some sort of compensation because situations like that are psychologically damaging...... Oh yeah, and hope you feel better soon....oh, and one more thing...go buy a lottery ticket! *Jen* |

haha.... yeah.. I dunno.. after having go through everything I felt terrible cuz I really, I could have just walked away from the accident if the firemen would have let me, but they had to follow protocall blah blah blah.. but I felt SOSOSO horrible for the person who drove the car.. she was a wreak. I couldn't imagine what she was going through, like.. I knew I was ok, but how was she supposed to know that..
My dad phoned her tonight to let her know that I was ok.. |

that is crazy. wow i havnet met you but i have whole lotta respect for you now..
what exactly happened? this broken windshield thing sounds pretty freaky... but i'm really happy for you that you're ok... although i respect that the fact that you're willing to walk away from this because you felt sorry for the woman who hit you, careless drivers like her need to learn a lesson or two. you could of gotten seriously hurt or even killed (i'm gonna presume for now that it was 100% her fault). not only do you deserve compensation for the event, i'm sure that lady who hit you will get the idea that she needs to either work on her driving or not drive at all. |

You might feel OK now but don't sign any papers until you get checked out.
I'm telling you... go file a claim with ICBC and make sure you keep it open. I bet the adrenaline is masking something. One doesn't just 'break' a windshield without damaging something. My g/f and her friend got into an accident as passengers in a vehicle. Her friend filed a claim and received $9,000 for her issues. My g/f who didn't file anything got nothing. Bad drivers deserve to get their driving priviledges taken away. |

yeah.. thanks for you guys concerns and opinions!!
but I'm pretty sure that I am ok.. I know that tomorrow morning I'm going to be pretty stiff... Some of the witnesses thought I hit my head on the windsheild.. but there is not a bump, scrape or bruise on my head.. so I think it was my butt.. cuz that REALLY hurts.. haha.. I think it was both of our faults. cuz one lane of traffic had stopped, and I looked, clear (or so I thought), then I looked the other way. Then the bus that had stopped started honking, and before I knew what was going on I was hit.... I think thats why I'm ok though.. because I didn't even see it coming, I didn't have a chance to seize up or anything. .. so yeah.. i should have been more cautious crossing, and the driver should have been more cautious when she saw that the bus had stopped for me.... |

In situations like these the driver is more at fault than the pedestrian. If the bus stopped for you then the driver of the car should slow down to see why, she didn't and you got hit.
Put it this way, if she had been going 20kph faster and you would be in the hospital or dead. If you feel some pain now then you are hurt. You may be in shock from the whole incident and this is masking your pain.. I've been in my fair share of accidents (rear enders, smashups) and I am advising you not to walk away from this without getting checked out 100% or at least leave a claim file open in case something happens days/weeks/months from now. You don't want to find out you have a hairline fracture somewhere to only have no way to have it fixed ecause you were trying to be a nice person. It doesn't cost you anything from reporting it and filing it with ICBC, however, if something does happen then you have somewhere to go for assistance. This is my advice and I am trying to be blunt, but the final decision is up to you to make. |

haha..
yeah.. I am going to file a report at ICBC, because apparently her uncle is a lawyer?? but... I'm not going to lay any charges or anything, even though ICBC will file any claim in my favor... I got xrays yesturday and everything is fine.. I just sprained the knee that got hit first, and have a little bruise on my elbow right now.. the doctor yesturday kept giving me a lecture on how it was a life threatening experience and I shouldn't be surprised if I get shakes or I have nightmares or anything.. that was kinda freaky though.. I had a lot of trouble sleeping last night... but everything was ok.... |
